Ok, so here's my sorcerer. This is the only pure profession I haven't played to any extent in the last 8 years.
Tell me if I'm doing it wrong, and how wrong I did it. Thanks =)

If I have to explain what my training plan is, then you probably shouldn't be commenting.

I'm going to venture to guess that based on the 25 views and 0 responses I'm either doing it right, or everyone who has viewed it thus far is unable to comprehend my training plan.

I completely get everything from your plan except the over-training in sorcerer spell circle.

To optimize professional circle CS, before hitting diminishing returns, one shoots for level+21 spells, I believe. So the OP's doing it right.

What is there to say? You are tripling in spells. You want a large CS and decided not to pick up Spell Aiming.
My personal opinion is more than 2.5x in spells is a waste because it limits your other options. But..... Sorcerers are still based off of BIG CS = Win so that was your choice.
Not sure when you are going to switch and pick up Minor Spirit ranks, I assume it will be when you are +21 ranks in Sorcerer. I just want to point out that spell 120 is a nice spell.
You are 1x in Arcane and MIU so you can infuse.
Demonology I assume will stop around 50 to 52?
If anything, I would eventually try and be 1x in both EMC and SMC.

I would pick up 1x EMC and SMC. At some point, sending/receiving will become important. Also, you may want to bring your Armor Use up to 8 ranks so you can wear Doubles with minimum hindrance at some point. All your core skills are there and if you're able to hunt effectively, it looks fine.
Personally, I like spell aim for the ability to use wizard wands occasionally. Those crystal wands are nice on many creatures, as are the slender blues. Otherwise, I went for spiritual lores over demonology because I think those particular spells of ours (summoning, etc) kind of suck. I like the benefits from the spiritual lores more.

Looks fine to me. Very standard build. Going to be boring as hell, though, without SOME bells and whistles besides all that CS.

If you go spell aiming, summoning lore provides more benefits (web bolt, increased DF/splash on 111) but if you are not doing SA (as you are not), summoning lore is mostly a waste (increased 116 usage is about it), so you are doing it right.
I prefer SA myself, but thats just one way to do it, you are doing it right for your style. Keep your MnE at level until at least 425, and preferably at level until 75 ranks in it for the CS bonus.

Thanks to everyone who's giving adivce/opinons. It's been over 10 years since I played a sorcerer. I figured I'd just do it mostly how I did it before, with the change being using a runestaff.
RE: +21 ranks over level in sorc circle...
I'm not sure if this is exactly my plan or not. For now I'd just like to have a better than 50% chance to ward things my own level, which I barely have.
RE: Spell aiming...
I decided I'm protesting against spell aiming and the bullshit it's wrought the sorcerer circle. I realize both bolting and focused implosion are pretty good, but that doesn't make me happy they exist the way they currently do for sorcerers - also don't have the points currently.
RE: EMC/SMC...
The idea here is basically to pick up 10 ranks whenever I have the available points. I'm making EMC primary, so now that it's at 20, the next will be 10 ranks of SMC. And so on...
RE: MnS circle...
120 is a good spell. It's also 13 spells away from 107. Currently, I could go for 15 spells away from where I am in the MnE circle (which wouldn't require any more level gaining from a 3x spells perspective) and get better benefits at an albeit higher mana cost.
Basically the plan is to get to at least 425 by 25, then decide from there what I need/want more of. Somehow I doubt DS will really be the short-term desire.
On the other stuff...
I had pretty much planned to 1x demonology for life. That's an RP thing (it can't all be mechanical can it?!).
I am currently 1x in both SA and MIU, but I doubt the character will ever be very good at unlocking/infusing. I would probably not even bother to try anything simple like 503 or 905 until at least level 30-35 based on my current training.
Mostly right now I'm just hunting with 702 and 720. I open implode and then clean up with 702. Alternatively I just plink away with 702. It's pretty boring, and it makes me sad for sorcerers.

You can infuse well at later levels with you MIU at 1x, and slowly working to raise Arc Syms. It is a good place to dump spare TPs.

I think this is the problem with most sorc paths. They're all pretty dull, without much variety.

That's pretty much the intention behind the 1x demonology lore for life.
I keep hearing "demons are bad", but I've failed to find a pet spell I didn't like and couldn't abuse in some form or fashion. This is the only one I've yet to play with, and it's got SO many different types. There has to be something in there.

problem with demons is that you need to master illusions, at least for most towns, and illusions are a guild skill, which equates to PITA, although not nearly as bad as alchemy.

You just have to get the rank in illusions to be able to mask them. If you like a specific demon and get the rank to mask it and don't use any other demon that you haven't learned to mask. Then you don't have to master illusions.

I don't know if demons are good or bad but from THIS player's perspective, they are not worth the hassle. Especially, as Fallen said, because you need to be a guild master before you can take them with you into Towns. Heh, I guess it has more to do with my laziness as a player than anything else; I just feel like keeping all the runes separate and straight is too much work. It's also why I don't use (and probably won't use) Animate Dead or Planar Shift.

Planar shift is the one way I rescue people that are far from town. Since I cannot drag people so well, I use spirit guide to get close to or in town, then rift to the town center so they can get healing and a cleric.

You do still have to go through the first five? sets of illusions before you even get to demons, though. And those ranks are quite thrilling letmetellyou....
Fuck, sure, sorcs, we'll give you a pet. You'll have to grind away at some other worthless skill/ability so that you can fully use your pet, though.
Gee, thanks, nice GMs.

Hey do you ever have any problems with your runestaff DS? I'm doing an empath with a similar build right now and I am at 8 magical ranks/level. I've been concerned that won't cut it. Thanks.

519ing Wizards, which is basically a sorc-path, aren't so bad in terms of variety. You will have a good bolt AS due to your training in the 500's circle due to 513, and be able to use Charge Item with all those excess ranks as well. Your enchanting will suffer, though. I wouldn't risk a 7x enchant with the build I was using pre-cap. I personally sacrificed a few Fire lore ranks to get the min Air Lore threshold for another RT drop. Haste FTW.

The key, as you know is to identify the important DS spells for your class and if you can, wear outside spells.
Most runestaff users will have on average 10 magical spell ranks/level. I think Zhelas had around 11 ranks/level
Runestaff DS will be fine the closer you are in full defense----->hunt from guarded position. The shield/brawl/edge will offer you a better defense in full offense.
Both should be viable through cap.

Yup. GS4 really sucked a lot of the fun/ancillary skills right out of sorcerers. In order to even consider being a "full" sorcerer, you simply won't have points for much non-combat (I count climb/swim here since you kinda have to have them for certain areas) related stuff.
It's also why I don't use (and probably won't use) Animate Dead or Planar Shift.
Planar shift isn't too bad on materials (chalk + book) and really is a kick ass spell. It's not something you'll necessarily replace gold rings with, but the ability to travel to pretty much anywhere at will is awesome. Especially if you like the stupidly-annoying-to-get-to spots like Teras or RR.

Lets not forget catastrophic failure of 740 which would unleash a demon on the town!

IMO that is the ONLY reason to try it. Maybe this weekend I will read Krakii and figure it out. Getting from Illistim to Vaalor in a minute would be a nice benefit.
