Anyone picking it up at midnight? I'm interested in doing a campaign if I can get a few people to play. I'm in Mountain time.

I've not heard anything about it.
Is it supposed to be good?
Can you link to a review that you think is a thorough review?

Metacritic had it at 93/100 earlier today, with a bunch of reviews (40ish). I'm guessing if you liked 1-ODST, you'll like Reach.
That being said, I'm not going to a midnight release. Not enough energy for that bullshit anymore. I'll probably pick it up tomorrow, though.

Yeah, I took the day off. Plan on caffeinating through the wee hours. Took it more as a reason to take a day off than specifically because it's halo reach. Haven't had any reason to take a day off this year besides to go to cons.

What's it like being stereotype, Septus?

Seems I paid for a pre-order in full MONTHS ago and completely forgot about it. o_O Might play some tonight - if you see me doing so, feel free to invite/join. Live handle is "A Real Puppet".

Looked awesome, very solid reviews so far. Worth it even if you never go online for multiplayer because you can just use bots for most game modes. I will pick it up next paycheck.
1-3 were great. I hated ODST, the campaign was TERRIBLE.

I thoroughly enjoyed ODST's campaign, but found it much too short. Nothing so far in the Halo series has topped the original Halo CE campaign, though, IMO.
Really? It was so boring, 95% walking from place to place in a town where everything looked the same, almost no action. The storyline was slow and boring. I only played it 2 player co-op but both my friend and I hated it. We kept waiting for it to get better.

I hated ODST. The Edge magazine non review of this scared me a bit. I hope to be proved wrong.
I did play the reach beta and the multiplayer was fantastic. Really a big improvement over ODST.

I didn't really care for the main story, but I thought the side-story about the girl and the city AI was cool. Also loved the massive change in soundtrack for ODST.

So, what do people think now that they're playing it?

Awesome ;) I try to play the caricature as close as I can. Almost everyone thinks in terms of stereotypes and caricatures anyways.. It's how our brain helps us remember things.
Reaches multiplayer is better than halo 3 imo. I've only gotten through the first 3 levels of the campaign, so far it's a lot harder than Halo 2 and 3s campaign was. (Although 3 wasn't that bad)
I haven't done any coop yet, so if anyone wants to feel free to add me.

It's a much better LOOKING game than ODST. I haven't gotten very far either though.

The only use I have for Halo games any more is they continue to be a platform upon which Red Vs Blue (http://redvsblue.com/archive/?id=88)can be produced and developed.

Now if only Red VS Blue would start being funny, we'd be set.
This was the last Halo before Microsoft took it over completely. After that, Halo is gonna suck butt.
That's what I've been telling everyone at work who are buying Halo. Lots of sales man, lots of 'em.

So you're basing this on what exactly?

I went back and looked at posts from the last 3 months from you.
People who clearly don't understand humor, have any experience with humor, or the ability to properly reproduce humor really shouldn't be making judgements about humor.

Do you really think Halo is going to be much of any epicness without Bungie? Halo is their baby, and if in some glorious way it doesn't suck there will very much be something tangible missing.
Also, Reach is fucking amazing thus far.

Haven't played campaign yet, but I'm liking multiplayer. I hated it at first because I haven't played Halo for a while and was pressing MW2 buttons and getting 0 kills. A few hours of practice and I'm up in the 20's in most games. I love headhunter matches.
It also helped that I got it for $13 (%20 percent off original price, $20 for preordering, and $15 coupon for having a Best Buy credit card.)
Gamertags: JMD412 and LMingrone. Friend me.

That certainly is embarrassing for you to admit, but you are apparently a douchenozzle since you like red vs blue.

I was a huge Bungie fan back when I first started getting into computers, because I had a Mac and they made the only good games. Marathon, Myth (not Myst, Myth... RTS' need to bring back molotov cocktails), those were there babies and those franchises rotted up. They got lucky with Halo and then the cash injection from MS is what let them ramp things up, if you really think they were all integrity about the franchise they wouldn't have released ODST. You can see the name Microsoft and make any assumptions you want, but their gaming division I respect way more than the likes of EA.
It's foolish to automatically assume that MS will squander the opportunity, they've got the cash to do it right, and they have a high value flagship name that they need to do justice, and not for the sake of just selling the game, they need it to sell their next console. They can take a loss on the game.

We once put Marathon 2 on what was then a 'supercomputer' and it was incredible. It was a great series.
My friend Wiley got to intern for Bungie on Myth. He says it changed his life.

Now that HALO is out of Bungie's hands, I wonder if we'll see a return to either Marathon or Myth.
Alright, I caved and bought it. Hope it doesn't disappoint like ODST.

LOL.
Ok I played with my buddy up until the part where we first learn about the supercarrier. It's definitely WAY better than ODST, world's apart for me. A proper Halo adventure. Also I love the hologram powerup, I never saw that in the beta but it makes a ton of sense in campaign mode.

You know, that's all fine and dandy and whatnot--but I was complaining on the fact that Bungie will no longer have anything to do with Halo, and forming my own opinion, god forbid we have opinions, that it's going to suck.
But cool story bro.
P.S lol Stan. Shit makes me laugh whenever I see it.

I find it hilarious that no matter how many times I use a hologram, people still fall for it.
Massive fan of the games and their canon. I never compared ODST with the Spartan games and loved it.
I'm glad they brought out a great game that is very different to the others since it would be easy to start to feel samey, even if they're awesome.

Put the game in the X-box, it spins, then says open tray. Brand new game bought at Best Buy. Take my receiver off of headphone mode, try again, nothing. Put Red Dead Redemption in the X-box, boots up fine. Put Reach back in...nothing.
I thought I would AVOID the hassles of game playing for once by playing a console game.
Dude it's xbox. The only platform with MORE problems than PC. Come on!

holograms don't have the player name above it - at least in offline multiplayer, and they always run straight
how much harder is it to play against people online?
