..against the Brewers. He and his pharmeceutical-enchanced arms are now tied for 3rd place on the HR list with the Babe next in line. Will he get it? Discuss.

If he gets it, there will be a nice large ASTERIX next to it at some point in the future. I think he'll eventually get caught as using illegal substances, especially with all that going on with his old personal trainer.

I hope and pray that everyone in baseball gets tested for illegal blah blah blah and it turns out only pitchers were using performance-enhancing drugs. Bonds will get an asterisk because he should have had MORE home runs. That would be so priceless.

I don't keep track of crappy sports, but haven't baseball scores on average increased over the past few decades, thus indiciating the opposite is true?

Not to mention pitchers having career years and then dispearing back into nothingness.

Maybe be illegal in the USA, but baseball doesn't enforce illegal activities without proof. There are only a few astericks in baseball history, and him using steroids will not give him one. He may be banned from baseball and the hall of fame, if the policy is enforced before he retires. Although, it most likely will not be since bargaining agreements won't happen again i dont think till '07. So either way, he will get away with it. Although when it does finally come down to it, he might even be in prison. Oh well, I respect the guy for what he has done.

THG also wasn't illegal in baseball until what? October when they found out about it.

Welcome to the show. The ones who have career years, are also the ones a blow out their arms. Only the ones with propper work out ethics will last. That statement does exclude David Wells. He is a freak of nature.

Sorry I didn't write my complete thoughts. Basically, I meant they won't be tested until 07. Even if they are enforcing random testing they have to give warning.

Hahaha. We all knew he was washed up. Why do you think him and Clemns went to Houston. Cause there still good? No its because they are big names and knew they could get one more contract before they left the show. Don't you think its funny that George didn't go after them? He knew that they both were done. And plus he is pissed his team hasn't won a world series in 3 years now. Gaze

Didn't they raid the test results from last year earlier this week? The FBI or someone did.

THG or Steroids or not. Bonds is an amazing hitter i hated him for breaking big macs record. Clemens tore SF apart last week so i dont think hes done, but petitte does suck.

Petitte sucks too for abandoning the Yankees. To go play in Texas ::spits::

I never have had any respect for Petite. The line up he was put in made him successful. Clemns wasn't as sharp when he played for the Yankees either. He also had a great lineup. But I definitely am not trying to take away from Clemns. By all means, he is one of the best. He is one of the old boys. Unfortuanately, when his time was up he needed someone to show him the door. But then again, it would be very uncharacteristic for Clemns to be the mean ol' son of a bitch that he is and retire as a Yankee. He just used the Yankees the whole time he was there. Now he is spitting in their face because he can. But George is up in the owner's box laughing because he got what he exactly wanted out of Clemns. World Series titles and ticket sales. Clemns was a pawn in New York. He is flipping New York off now. David Wells is doing the same thing. Sorry since I have blabbered on about this, I also just wanted to throw the name Zimmer. Now that is funny.

Baseball hitting averages fluctuate over periods. Always have, always will.
Two factors in the hitting craze are simple. Lots of expansion teams, so the great batters are hitting against guys who would've been the 5th pitcher on a AAA team 30 years ago, and all those new stadiums built for hitters. Fuck, Colorado alone's doing it. Think it's a coincidence that all these record home run hitters are NL guys?

Yeah, they did.
The good guys have them now.
Barry Bonds is the biggest asshole in professional sports today.
It really couldn't happen to a nicer guy!
He doesn't need an asterisk for me to be happy. He just needs to be shamed by the public forever. As he should be.

Actually there are many different arguements to this theory. You say pitchers today would be triple A 30 years ago? I doub't that. What kind of pitchers are so different now then 30 years ago. You want to talk more like 50+ then there may be a different arguement. Pitchers in the 70's 80' and 90's all have shared the same experience. They have Middle relief pitchers and closers. I don't see how anyone can argue that hitting was harder during Ruth, Cobb, and Williams time. I personally think it was easier. They had more league games and faced a 3 man rotation. Many of these pitchers arms would be burnt out towards the end of the season and not throwing the ball nearly as hard. Not to mention the old time batters could study the pitching because of the 3 man rotation. Umpires call are easy to memorize. Pitcher's pitches are not as easy, but back then it wasn't as hard today. When a pitcher comes in today there is a likely chance that you may have never even seen the guy before but on TV.
Did anyone else notice how much the home run hitting was down in the 70's and 80's. Its because pitching got so much better. Todays hitters do steroids so that they can hit the long ball. People have been so deprived of the long ball for so long that everyone in the mid 90's till today is special. Even with Aaron, he was a consistent home run hitter but he never did hit over 50 homeruns in his career. 8 times in his career he his over 40.

Some pitchers would, Galleazo. We've also had some damn well brilliant ones.
