Trying to get lich to work on my Mac but it wont detect avalon once i run lich through Terminal.

warning: failed to load GTK bindings: No such file to load -- gtk2
Pretending to be gs3.simutronics.net
Listening on port 4900
Waiting for the client to connect...
error: timed out waiting for client to connect

anyone have any solutions?

Did you install macports?

Lich isn't supposed to detect Avalon. Avalon does not accept any command line arguments. After starting Lich, you have to log in with Avalon before Lich times out.

I got lich working on my macbook, but I'm having the same problem as this fellow on my desktop- I start lich, open avalon, and lich doesn't recognize that avalon has connected. Any ideas?

If Avalon is able to connect to the game while Lich is waiting for a connection, then Lich is pretending to be the wrong domain name. If Avalon is not able to connect to anything while Lich is waiting for a connection, then Lich is listening on the wrong port. What game instance are you logging in to, and what domain and port is Avalon trying to connect to?

Was trying to log into prime. (gtk failure is something else Im working on solving, I get the same message on my laptop but it still connects just fine and I can run most scripts.)

That shows what domain and port Lich is listening on, but if that was the domain and port Avalon was trying to connect to, there probably wouldn't be a problem.

How do you tell what port Avalon is connecting to? And why would it be different between machines?

Well.. When you log on with Avalon while Lich is listening, does Avalon connect to the game?

Yes, but without lich, obviously. I removed all my YASSE stuff too, thinking that might have been an issue, but to no avail.

Try these:

sudo lich.rb --gemstone --avalon --hosts-dir /etc

sudo lich.rb --gemstone --avalon --hosts-dir /private/etc

Nope... weird. Avalon loads just fine, I connect to the game, but lich just times out as if it doesn't see Avalon connecting.

After starting Lich, check /etc/hosts or /private/etc/hosts, depending on what command you used, and see if it actually changed.

Upgraded to OS 10.6, and lich was working withou gtk bindings, I could connect, but then I tried to install ruby with gtk bindings, which failed, and now I can't connect to lich at all:

sudo ruby lich.rbw --gemstone --avalon
warning: failed to load GTK bindings: no such file to load -- gtk2
error: failed to bind to the proper port

How did I screw up the port lich binds to, and how do I fix it? Any idea? Before it would listen to 4900 and I could open avalon and everything would be fine except for the things that require the GTK bindings, now I can't connect at all again.

I have 2 things to say:

1. If it wasn't for GS then I would be a Mac user as well.
2. Download Ubuntu and put it on your mac
