Standard scoring league, no PPR.
Wes Welker (cincy) or Clinton Portis (dallas) in the WR/RB slot?

Welker, and he plays for the Patriots.
I'm hoping he's fully recovered.
Clinton Portis hasn't been a threat in a few years now.

Clinton will be back to 08 form this year. Not the back he was with Denver, but 1200 yards and 8-10 tds.
I just don't think he'll have great numbers against Dallas's D.

I don't know how you can believe that. Skins didn't draft Larry Johnson for his AARP check. Portis was horrible last year and the Skins O line will probably have Donovan McScramble all over the pocket trying to throw screens to Cooley and Moss. I'd also go with Welker

You sound like PBJT. I'm not a big Portis backer this year (didn't go near him in drafts) but other than being hurt in 2009 (8 games or so played) he was a top 10 back in 2008 and top 5 in 2007.
I like Welker though for this week.

He was hurt half the year.
All sources indicate that he is committed to not having 09 be the beginning of his declice. He's been working hard and even, as a veteran RB, participated in all off-season activities.

I will live and die by Portis. I got him in every draft I did.
People were picking Donald Brown while he was still on the board. It's silly how one bad, injury plagued year can hurt your reputation.

It just seems a lot like what happened to Shaun Alexander. One injury season and then the bottom drops out. If the Skins hadn't picked up LJ, I'd have a better feeling about it.

They picked up LJ as a cheap insurance policy to Clinton. LJ is still the back-up.

So if you feel that 1 injury season (although see 2006 -> 2007) is the end for Portis why are you backing LJ who due to injuries and suspensions hasn't played a 16 game season since 2006?

Welker is the smarter play!

Oh, I'm not doubting that LJ sucks too, but Shanahan probably hasn't paid attention since 2006 either, that's probably why he kept him. I see the Redskins doing awful and drafting a good RB next year to rebuild. They'll need a new QB too. Damn, they just suck all around.

It wasn't just because Portis had a bad 2009, it's also because Washington will be a running back by committee team with Portis sharing the load with Johnson and Keiland Williams, who has looked pretty good this pre-season.
Donald Brown was taken earlier than normal due to the supposed concussion Joseph Addai received in the preseason.

Here's to hoping for DB to have a better year because of that. I grabbed him in the PC league for just that reason.

Eh... there were better handcuffs out there as Indy is usually a pass offense first.. then run.

Why after so many years of learning the right things to do did I draft Reggie Bush. Fuck.

Yeah I'd play Welker. I trust him and Brady a lot more than I do Portis playing Dallas. I do think Portis will be a workhorse until he gets hurt, which is pretty much a guarantee.

That is just not the feeling I get from the sports media here in Washington.
I guess it remains to be seen, but I think Portis will have two more good years under Shanahan.
