Dying in a place they never should've been. Sad, sad, sad.

They are civilians and were willing to go there knowing the risks.
Now because of that I don't get the point of your post.

Death of any kind is sad maybe? Any civilians tortured and slain by terrorist is sad? I could think of 2 reasons for the post, off the top of my head.

Personally, it only resolves me that we are there for at least one right reason, when civilians get abducted, tortured to death, and video's of said death sent to the television stations.

Nobody should suffer that kind of fate.

Terrorists really need to take a lesson from Gandhi.

I rather doubt this was a painless death but I pray it was. How incredibly sad. These terrorists are cowards to the nth degree.

The Japanese hostages were recently released (http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/04/15/iraq.hostages.japan/index.html).

I've been seeing this thread all day long, but for some reason when I glanced at it just now I thought it said One Italian sausage killed. Man I'm hungry.

Well, here is an update on the guy who died...

The Italian who was the first civilian hostage to be killed in Iraq was today hailed as a hero who defied his captors and told them: "Now I'll show you how an Italian dies."
Italy's foreign minister, Franco Frattini, confirmed Fabrizio Quattrocchi's death, and said that an Italian official had seen a videotape of the killing of the 36-year-old security guard, one of four Italians taken hostage on Monday.

He had a hood over his head, ripped it off and said that as he stared down the barrel of the gun before he was shot.

I admire him for his actions and he truly was a courageous man.

ahh here is the exact quote from the Foreign Minister

"When the murderers were pointing a pistol at him, this man tried to take off his hood and shouted: 'Now I'm going to show you how an Italian dies.' And they killed him," Mr Frattini said.
