Thinking of Getting Cunning Defense and Disarm. Is that a good combo for sword and board ranger or should I go another route?

Just get CMans for defense. I plan on doing 3x feint, 3x disarm, 5x CDefense. SMastery is a decent idea if you plan on ambushing a lot and now that the cost has been reduced it's not as hard to get. Hamstring rocks if your TWC and Dirt Kick is awesome because it induces RT and doesn't require you to stance to use it.

if you play a larger race, smastery is a must. i play a giantman and i have issues hiding unless i have smastery up. full 2x hiding with 601/617 up of course.

disarm owns especially for pvp in shattered. in fact, pvp in general. always fun to make someone squirm who has messed with you by disarming them and hanging onto their weapon for a little while.

most people use feint for pvp so I would definitely recommend that. cdefense is good i've heard but i haven't experimented enough to see the benefits

for larger races, sweep may also be a good choice.

If you're ambushing, smastery is pretty crucial. Besides that, cdef and disarm are the only other necessary CMANs.

Feint is cheaper. I always liked Sweep, though. Hamstring is a bit MEH with one weapon, but great with TWC.

What about a bow based ranger? What CM is suggested for them?

Depends on whether you are open aiming or ambushing from the shadows. I am an open aimer and have mastered cunning defense and disarm. That has always been enough for me. If you ambush from hiding I would think shadow mastery, cunning defense, and disarm. But that is just my opinion....
