View Full Version : Looking for a New Hunting Ground

I'm a little under 13k from hitting 54 as an empath in Plat, and I'm looking for a good hunting ground for experience and money. I've been wandering different areas and completely striking out for loot for the past few levels, and with EG coming up, I need some spending money.
I've been hunting snow madrinols so much that they've stopped dropping gems and alchemy drops for the most part. Pinefar is being hunted by someone else and isn't offering much in terms of loot. I just got into the Citadel tonight and there's very little to find. Where else can I go that might offer some coin?

I'd either hunt the Blighted Forest or go to Teras and do pyrothags and such. Uphunting a few levels with either, but they're the best I can think of for loot.
On a semi-unrelated note, my empath in Shattered made 54 yesterday, and I'm way behind. :P

I've often found that hunting for coins and hunting for EXP can be two different things. Any good skinner can earn lots of silver by underhunting, which is what I have to do at cap if I need quick coin.

Hey Nilandia--I think someone suggested this to you somewhere else already but underhunting faeroth in gyldemar can be really lucrative. They're pretty easy kills, not particularly dangerous at all and have above average skins. Since you'll have to kill a few more of them than madrinols to fry you'll make a bit more coin (and they spawn nicer than madrinols). Both lesser (crests) and greater (fangs) are good skins, although harming their head/eyes in any way reduces the value quite a bit.

It's starting to look like that might be the case for me. I'll be trying pyrothags, but everything else I've tried has been dirt poor. Each of my hunts in the Citadel has given me less than 10k, sometimes less than 5k. It's a bit exasperating since I've had people tell me that I'd really be making money hand over fist if I just went to this place, only to find it desolate.

I used to hunt there, actually. I've found I make more money on madrinol skins than I do on faeroths, even though the madrinols hide their gems when I show up.
Thanks for the help, guys. It looks like I'm just going to have to endure the next several levels until I hit Wyneb.

Faeroths, definately. For pure money I'd also go raptors too.

Raptors are farmed VERY heavily in Plat. Sadface.

Tried dark shamblers down Solhaven way? A good gen rate and the eyes used to bring decent coin (it has been a while since I was there). They also drop loot and the occasional beetles have very nice shells.

Wouldnt Myklians be almost ideal to skin hunt as an empath? Even at their reduced value now, they still wouldnt be that bad would they? Then again I havent tried them recently so who knows.
Just a thought.
