Qoz was running a script that ran around the catacombs, and it was fucking fast. I was sick of seeing him run around AFK, scrolling my screen, so I stalked him and started casting blood burst. I got tired of missing, bought a quartz orb, and sat in the Nexus. I cast blood burst at him every time he walked by via a two-line script I made.

Dude, you WERE afk scripting. If he had called down a GM instead of dropping your ass dead, you'd have a warning on you now.
I've seen those speedy hunting scripts that rips by people, and it is annoying. Rapid screen scrolling is also considered disruptive and another violation.
Bob really isn't 400 lbs, nor does that help your arguement at all.

Bob may not be 400 pounds and wear glasses, but he certainly acts it. He sports the typical "I get my ass beaten daily in the gym locker room" tortured soul persona of a fat kid in high school. the amusing thing is he comes to a forum where bob is respected(yes i mean it) as a contributor to the greator knowledge. He may do it in a way that slightly degrades the one who he proves wrong but in many occasions its entertaining. You will not get much accomplished by going somewhere where the person you are complaining about is a known member, they will most likely side with them before you(look at hammerhead's situation). I know for a fact that many people here would have done the same to you as he did. Personally, I would have hit you with 701 then reported you. If you went back to your ways of rarely posting nobody would care. That is all.

That's not fair, I doubt anyone with any intelligents (get it?) respects Bob. He has made me laugh MAYBE once or twice, but usually his posts are in the same league as Tayre or Hammerrhead. As you can see, Hammerrhead caught right on and hopes to emulate the high post counts. Great minds think alike!
This incident is a good example where Bob is acting like a dumb ass and playing script police. I don't even know why you would be down there patrolling for them, but whatever floats your boat I guess. Seems like a stupid reason to risk getting locked out for unconsented PvP.
GSLeloo

Actually I think Bob has a lot more intelligence than this idiot. He was scripting in rats, that's pretty pathetic. I have never had to be that pathetic to use a script to hunt, ever. If I don't feel like hunting than I won't rather than having to use a script to do it for me.
Plus this guy is an idiot because he was in the wrong for doing it and really he should've been reported so he could be yelled at for script hunting. See my first comment on this topic to see what I think of it all.

Who cares? It's not Bob's job to enforce policy, nor is it yours. They hire GM's to do that.
You may find this hard to comprehend, but a friend wouldn't give Bob a pat on the back for breaking the rules. I'll say it again, it's a stupid thing to get locked out for.
Anytime you find your character down in the catacombs looking for an excuse to kill someone, take a step back and wonder why you are such an idiot.
I don't think that everyone who uses a script to hunt is pathetic. (This coming from someone who has never script hunted). I do however think that this Qoz reacted on his first instinct which was to react with anger, instead of putting himself in Bob's place where Bob could have called a GM and had you(Qoz) warned.
Instead, he casted at you, you died and you learned from it.
If you have seen someone script hunt, its very fucking annoying being ran past about 30 times while your trying to get your hunt on, and making yourself blatantly obvious to others in the area.
Blazing247
04-12-2004, 02:34 PM
I'm not defending scripting, but please Leloo, don't try to impose your morals on others. Your OPINION that scripting is pathetic is irrelevant to everyone but yourself. Simu has taken a stance on the issue already, and they certainly don't need SP (Script Police or, in Bob's case, "Special" Police) going about it with vigilante justice.
I do agree that Bob did the more respectable thing in killing him, instead of reporting him. Report whores suck hairy ballsack. I tire of hearing people say "I hate this or that, therefore people shouldn't do it". This isn't LelooStone (pray), so get off it already.

Wrong again. By that logic, Bob should have thanked Qoz for not reporting him for unconsented PvP and getting Bob locked out for a month.
This isn't a moral issue, and Policy is pretty clear about it.
I think some of you think I'm pro-scripting or something. I'm not, I just understand what the rules are, and Bob is just as much in violation, even though you feel he was fighting for justice and freedom from scripters for all.
I do think it's kind of funny that Bob's "friends" encourage him to violate Policy, though. It's almost sad to watch because they think they are lending support when they are actually encouraging him to get into trouble over something completely idiotic.
GSLeloo
04-12-2004, 02:50 PM
Um they don't lock you out for a month because they're greedy and want your money. And they hire GM's to babysit the players and placate their tantrums. They truly don't give a shit and don't take any actions, they just say a bunch of meaningless words to make the player feel like something was accomplished.
Im not saying what was done was the correct way to handle things. Bob acted on his own. No one from the boards encouraged him. I just applaud his efforts. I also do not agree with him calling Qoz an idiot for what happened.
Hopefully there won't be another chance for Qoz to possibly be reported by someone other than Bob. You could flip it and say that Qoz could have reported Bob, but what for? He was obviously disrupting his hunting by afk scripting. Its a no win situation.
Bobmuhthol

I wasn't Bobmuhthol, I was a level 5 sorcerer, and I was hunting. I was sick of the constant scroll and just finally killed him.
<<Wrong again. By that logic, Bob should have thanked Qoz for not reporting him for unconsented PvP and getting Bob locked out for a month.>>
Too bad that wouldn't happen. Boo hoo.
<<I also do not agree with him calling Qoz an idiot for what happened.>>
I called Qoz an idiot because his script WAS NOT killing rats. All it did was run around the east/west and north/south tunnels of the catacombs for at least ten minutes before I even thought about killing him.

It was because his rat script hunter has a "check" for others in the room, a match on also here I think. So when you joined him, in every room he ran through, he saw, "also here, Warcliadhm", and the smart script thought, hey, don't attack rats, someone is here.
Bobmuhthol
04-12-2004, 03:22 PM
Not true. His group was closed, so I had to stalk him, and therefore he wouldn't see me.
BUT ALSO, I followed him around previously, and he didn't kill a single rat. I saw as many as 10 in one tunnel, and he ran through the entire thing with nobody else around in seconds.

Actually, his script would not have a "Also here:", until he saw a rat, attacked, then did his new look (if it looks again), what it would do is, XXXXX followed you. So that is not why his script was not attacking, unless he had a match for the "XXXXX followed you." line.

That's if his script sucks, FIniswolf.
Apparently he fixed it so it actually hunts now, and I don't doubt it's an excellent script. I know Kranar said he had a method of hunting without inputting LOOK, but he never updated his rat script with it.
I personally have nothing against script hunters.
If you can make a script, go afk, come back a day or so later and:
1. Not get killed by a monster
2. Not get caught by a GM
3. Not get killed by a player
Then you have a decent script going and I think, by all means, go ahead. On the other hand, I see AFK scripters as fair game. People crying about "REPORT" or "Bob's lucky he didn't report" just make me sick. It seems that there is a fist full of people in this game that *always* fall back on "report" or "WARN INTERACTION". It gets kind of tiring.
How about we police somethings for ourselves? You know for certain someone is scripting and you don't want that around you? Mess up his script or blast him out of his boots, but don't run to the report command. People are getting way too damn liberal with it and it's becoming almost like a childcare program.
Let's grow up here people. If he get dropped by another player, you did something to deserve it. Pissed that someone has a higher CS than you? Hunt. Pissed that someone slammed you with a huge AS? Catch him off guard and feras his ass. Stand up for yourself and don't cry to the GMs every damn time something doesn't go your way. It's part of the reason this game has gotten so Disneyfied.

That's all well and good in a perfect world, but half of us are imbeciles without the discretion to properly evaluate a situation and intervene appropriately.
Why you might think it would be nice for players to police each other and enforce policy, things don't work that way in Gemstone. If you try to enforce policy, such as hunting AFK scripters and killing them, you are going to get locked out. I don't make the rules, I'm must explaining them since no one seems to understand them.
P.S. - I've never warned or reported anyone, but I don't go around killing characters for OOC crap either.

I got caught *once* and I found myself in a room with a "big fake rat" and a weird room description. It said that if I got caught again I'd get locked out, but I do know they dock xp from you too, happened to me after that.

I don't agree with policing other players and such either. Im there to have fun, I pay for that, its the GM's job to enforce policy and rules. If they arent doing a good enough job, then its with the policy makers we should have our beef with. If you want a vigilante type of atmosphere you know which game to click on when your play.net screen pops open. I feel where your coming from Arkans but I think that opens up the door to a whole slew of other problems.
Fengus

I agree its not our job to teach people how it is they should interact with fellow humans. Besides that, killing a scripter without reporting is only passing on the problem, in other words tomorrow once you are gone from rats this jerkoff will be bothering some other person.
I report always and at the drop of a hat. I have a macro that allows me to input name and location then sends the report. I sometimes call SIMU headquarters to make sure they got the report.
Joxter
04-13-2004, 02:56 PM
Well instead of killing the scripter, why not make it impossible for him to hunt? Like disarming or de-limbing them. So they wake up missing an arm or leg.
