I've noticed there's not grey area here. People either don't give a shit if someone knows their name without being introduced, or they throw a fit about it.

I'm one of "I don't a shit" breed because I find it's easier to deal with instead of finding people who play the 'let's introduce ourselves game'.

Usually I really dont care. Except with this character. Its awkward since she very rarely speaks.

I try my best to not know people's names.. because it can bother the shit outta me when people know mine.

Although slip ups do happen.

It's partly why I'm scared to log one of my Erithi into Prime. She never speaks unless she has to and even then, calls herself something other than the name the game gives her. She has never spoken her name aloud and burned all record of it. Not to mention that she's from another continent, so no one should know at all.

I'm petrified that someone else will call her by the game's name when I know they shouldn't know it. Thankfully, her name in game isn't her true name, so they don't get TOO close for comfort.

Ok seriously, normally Senja wouldn't have been like that.. some nutcase came up to her the other day talking about her name was written in a book somewhere blah blah blah. So she was a little paranoid. For some reason people have been coming up to her and asking her wierd ass questions like "where were you born?" It gets a little old. You just happened to catch her being tired of it.

I always know someone's name if I need, say, spells.

Otherwise I just know it if I'm being dumb.

My character generalyl only "knows" peoples names if she's healing a dead body and announces that they're ready for life. Just saves a lot of confusion, rather than "The dead person is ready".
