None of my characters have ever joined a house, so I decided to check out all the possibilities tonight and see what I might be missing.
This one looked the most intriguing and would be a fun theme to play with.
Is it still active? Anyone from the PC have characters involved in it?

Yes and yes. We don't have a lot of members, but we're pretty active.
I'm friends with a few members but the Arcane Masters as a whole are definitely "old house". In that their members are not what you would call sterling roleplayers. A lot of old school players with old school attitudes. Take that in the spirit it's intended but if you are a big RPer I would probably recommend an MHO. If you're someone who has an eye for history and you think that the game is better played loose than I definitely think Arcane is the most prestigious house out there.

That sounds like something I might be interested in.

This probably describes about half of us, like me, which makes sense since I'm one of the ones Drew knows. We are however a more diverse house than you might think, and have some fine roleplayers amongst the group. We have a pretty active membership, even if we are a small group. If you're interested, I would suggest that you come to a house hunt, (always on the 15th of the month, after our monthly meeting), or just try to get to know some of the active members. You must also be a legend to be a member.
Another thing to keep in mind is that just by the nature of how we handle membership, becoming a member is not something you can successfully attain by lobbying, nor is it something you should really pin your hopes on. On average, I would say we add about 2 members a year, though it's far from being that regular.

I think im in the wrong house...
As an aside, wasn't there a relatively big group that broke off from Arcane and formed a House Arcane in EverQuest?

Yep. There are a bunch of Arcaners in other games, not just EverQuest, but that one was pretty sizeable.

...Askip, your bio leads to a lady's page. It made me double take. Might want to have that fixed!

Still some Arcane founders in the Guild in Everquest2 currently, a fairly large number of the old guard wander as a group from game to game as new stuff is released, been in guilds with them in at least half a dozen games.

For as long as I can remember I've wanted to be a member of House Arcane. It also happens to be the hardest house to get into. :(

I imagine so since it at least used to be invite only and unanimous approval of all memebrs to get in, no idea if thats still the case. Hell, more active members then my current house.

The membership admission rules are written into the bylaws, and they're nearly impossible to change, not that we'd want to. It's not actually unanimous approval, but you need a certain minimum of yes votes, and you can't have any no votes.

As Kerl mentioned, if you are not well known to most of the members you can join us for our monthly hunt which is open to everyone. Wait by the doorkeeper at 9:30 pm EDT on the 15th, we check regularly for guests.
