still trying to quit a year later.
anyone have any suggestions? cause I can go about a week and then I go insane, have a beer, and it just goes bad from there..
don't you dare tell me the beer is the problem. beer is a glorious thing. I drank it before I ever started smoking..
.... I know you guys will say it's the beer. dammit.

Smoking is really bad for you.
Ahahahaha. Ahhh. Hmmm.
I have no idea how you quit.
One day, I was looking forward to my first glorious Camel Filter of the morning, and when I lit it up, I was just like "this shit doesn't taste good anymore and is probably hastening the death of my fat ass." AND I NEVER SMOKED (cigarettes) AGAIN.
I believe in the David Sedaris theory that select people are assigned a number of cigarettes to smoke and once the quota is met, they'll quit.

switch to smokeless tobacco. It's nasty and you'll want to do it less.

well the best time I find to quit is when I'm sick.. and I'll go like a week and then I give in.. but really, I hate this shit.
..I guess I need to hate it even more then?

Carry a deck of cards in your pocket. Instead of smoking, shuffle them. I know it sounds retarded but keeping my hands busy was how I managed to quit.

Chantix worked for me. Allows you to smoke while you start, and by the third week I didn't even want to finish one if I lit it up. Stopped completely in fourth week, and didn't even need to stay on it for the next two months. It really helps break the nicotine addiction, and does it well.

i used to smoke a pack a day, then i switched to hookah, helps with the quitting process give your body the illusion of nicotine. i dont smoke a pack a day now at least, and i only smoke the hookah about once every few days.

KFC commercials are pretty much what makes one smoke;)
Chantix is something I was thinking about. I guess I'll try that. Why not?
I also LOVE hookah.. it really does help, I'll give it that.. maybe I should buy my own hookah pipe?

Suck a cock every time you want to smoke. Will kick the habit fast, or at least make some new friends.

It's more fun to get drunk in game and in reality at the same time and then try to hunt.
If you really want to quit, you will. Until then enjoy it.
Quitting was for me a test of my resolve. If you have that resolve you will quit.
I’ve heard all kinds of stories and I could tell you mine but everyone is different. If you really really want to quit then quit.

I suggest you get a job building explosives. Then if you are still too stupid to quit you GET WHAT YOU DESERVE.
Or try not buying them. Self control works too.

I used the nicotine gum and started drinking red wine instead of beer. Took about 2 weeks before I felt really gay drinking red wine and was able to drink beer without wanting to punch a face because I couldn't have a smoke.
I also started running, which helps way more than anything else. But most people don't like that idea.
But in the end it's about committing to quitting. Making the decision and sticking with it.

also getting some red wine.. we'll see how I do on that..
If it bothers you so much that you can’t quit just imagine how good you will feel when you finally do.
I have started smoking again but I did quit for 6 months this year. My most successful attempt was patchs with a shit load of hard candy, regular gum and nicotine gum. I would run every morning and at night I would exercise until I couldnt move and then fall asleep. I couldnt fall asleep otherwise, insane boughts of insomnia. I have been smoking for 15 years and Im 28.
I prefer the patch and gum strategy because the gum gives a fail safe and is generally so god damn gross that its not addictive. Its especially helpful to smooth out the moments during full blown physical/mental withdrawl that I experience and usually break me. Alot of the addiction factor of nicotine, for me at least, is the inability to deal with stress without cigarettes. So the key to weening off was to anticipate the things that were going to send me into a rage and be prepared. Weekly status report meetings/action item list reviews/talking to co-workers I dislike I would pack gum. Im planning on trying again soon as well :(. The drinking thing is really rough also, dopamine loves its friend nicotine.
I notice people were mentioning chantix...if your like me and feel frustrated or angry while withdrawing stay the fuck away from chantix. It pretty much amplifies the rage but removes the obvious conclusion that cigarettes are the source. Im one of the "small percentage of people" who ended up borderline psychotic for a few weeks on that shit. If you look into chantix a little theres a large body of evidence that it can be somewhat dangerous to lock up those receptors in your brain for a while.
By the way, when you quit be prepared to gain like 40lbs.

My grandfather was a prize fighter, Golden Gloves in Tennessee. He worked out every day of his life. He was such a kind man, he never spoke badly about anyone. He was a great firefighter, father, husband and neighbor. He never tolerated racism although it was common during his day. He was admired by many around him.
His vice was smoking..
He died tragically of throat cancer when he was 64, choking on his own blood. He made my father promise never to smoke. My father has passed the hatred of cigarettes down to me. It WILL shorten your life. Tragedy will be a likely end. Don't be selfish - think of your family. Quit now.

It was weird when I quit. Just one day I was done. tried to smoke one about a year ago when I was shit housed. It tasted so bad and was so nasty that after 2 puffs I put it out.
Weird how your body changes.

You haven't posted in a while, seems you managed to quit the PC pretty well there (well other than this).
Make any new commercials? I liked that one where the guy threw the fish... or something, you were some sort of weird announcer, you should post more of your work if you've done any more.

maybe an odd idea, but switch to a brand you hate. Whatever your usual is, stop buying it immediately and get something else. For me it was easier to not want to smoke when I was smoking Marlboro Lights instead of Parliaments. I'm going on 9 years now. Not saying I haven't smoked during that time, but I've never bought a 2nd pack after buying my 1 pack for the year.

Try electronic cigs. It got me to quit after being a 10 year smoker. It also got my mom to quit and she was a 40 year smoker.
You're still getting the nicotine, just without the thousands of additives that are in modern cigarettes (tar, carbon monoxide, fiberglass, formaldehyde, etc). Nicotine by itself is only slightly worse for you than caffeine.

There is also a similar school of thought about heroin addiction

Except with heroin once that quota is met the person is usually dead.

Then imagine I said: Oh that explains why Rob had that vibrator in his mouth.
