The thing I absolutely love about rogues is their versatility.
After a conversation on lnet, I had the crazy idea to respec my archer rogue into a double katar wielder. I aim to fill in my bolt and CS weaknesses with spells and GoS sigils (currently rank 10)
My goal is to do about .25x spell research get to 107 and 414 before cap (maybe higher).

Here are my skills at 17:

Two Weapon Combat..................| 128 34
Armor Use..........................| 78 17
Combat Maneuvers...................| 78 17
Edged Weapons......................| 128 34
Brawling...........................| 128 34
Multi Opponent Combat..............| 78 17
Physical Fitness...................| 78 17
Dodging............................| 128 34
Harness Power......................| 50 10
Stalking and Hiding................| 120 30
Perception.........................| 78 17
Climbing...........................| 78 17
Swimming...........................| 50 10

Spell Lists
Minor Elemental....................| 1

Spell Lists
Minor Spirit.......................| 3

What do you think?

I swapped out Two weapon combat for Ambush and shield and my hunt times dropped in half (and I died less).

Swinging two weapons was fun, but not very practical in my experience.

Yeah, something probably best left for near/post-cap... unless you really like a challenge and being different.

Without scrutinizing the training costs, I suspect that a warrior would be much more viable early on doing TWC Katars. Without spells of course.

Learning spells as a rogue... well.... here's my opinion.

The 100s spells are USELESS to learn as a rogue. Every spell that's useful can be attained one way or another, for a much lower cost of AS/MIU ranks, mostly to offset the spellburst effect of the later hunting areas. Even 120 can be imbedded. That said, the 400s circle gives access to 425 and 430 which are selfcast spells only. If your goal is to actively pursue a spell-based training plan, I'd suggest 425 and 430 before even a single spell in the 100s circle is learned.
