Remarkable that the Administration would not act on "uncorroborated" warnings but would act on "conclusive" evidence of Iraq's WMDs.

A statement like the one above makes me want to stab out my eyes.

yea, from that memo it was clear that on 9-11-01 19 terrorists would hi-jack 4 airliners, crash 2 into the WTC, one into the pentagon and another into a field in pennsylvania. goddamn the government for ignoring it!!!
People who opposed the war on Iraq were called "unpatriotic."
I say now, those who swalloed all that bullshit can't come up with an original though for themselves. It was "Patriots" who questioned British rule, not to mention tax and freedom to worship.
Congrats. You are a puppet of the Authority.

Did you even read it? Honestly.
It was extremely vague. Extremely. The only thing that really stuck out, was 1 sentence that said the FBI believed terrorists were surveying federal buildings in NY.
But...the WTC wasn't federal.

And here (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0409041pdb1.html) it is, if you haven't.

Want to know what was more vague?
The intelligence reports that indicated Iraq had WMDs.
Do you want to know who supplied that intelligence?
Iraqi exiles that had been petitioning the U.S. for years to reinstall them to power.
The irony is that our administration acted on this intelligence without recognizing how shady the sources were, yet were not very reactive to "uncorroborated" warnings.
If the administration were able to take the heat I'm sure they wouldn't mind admitting that several smaller nations had been warning us about Al Queda prior to 9-11.
I'm sure the intelligence agencies of Jordan are scratching their heads still while mumbling "WTF?!".

As well as British intelligence and intelligence gathered during the previous administration, and probably from a few other sources as well.

Last I heard, Parliment is questioning the validity and sources of intelligence Blair pushed down their throats.
I'm not too keen on British politics so maybe a Brit can chime in.

I'm assuming that they have their own version of Democrats there...
So, it's to be expected... after it is politics!

I suppose the line about "suspicious patterns of activity" or however it was said, or the line about how Al Qaeda was in America, and planning hijackings, are just all liberal spin then.
Speaking of spin, the White House put out a "fact sheet" which was twice as long as the PDB.
Edited to add: I don't really care about this subject - I figure even if someone knew the method (planes into buildings), the time, the date, there'd be no way they'd of ever stopped them, short of pulling all brown males off airlines. Airline security before 9/11 was pathetic, all our counterterrorism was based on hijackers wanting to go somewhere, and get out of it alive.

We have not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threat reporting, such as that from a ---- service in 1998 saying that Bin Laden wanted to hijack a U.S. aircraft to gain the release of "Blind Sheikh" Omar Abdel Rahman and other U.S.-held extremists.
Nevertheless, FBI information since that time indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York.

That's the part that bothered me.

The Siege upset me purely for the reason that I could see it happening.

Uh, the intelligence in regards to Iraqi's WMD came from them after the Gulf war. What was beig majority contested was that Saddam did not and would not supply information stating that he did indeed destroy those weapons and discontinue their production.
