I currently split my time between warcamps, Darkstone and the Stronghold. I'm trying to build up my bounty points, but I keep getting tasks for stone mastiffs and harbringers, both of which are incredibly annoying for an archer due to their armor or padding.
Does anyone know of any other hunting grounds in the 60-70 range where bolt DS is nice and low, and critters wear lighter weight armor?
I'm contemplating fire mages, except I don't want to get stuck with soul golem tasks.

You pretty much hit all of the areas around the landing and Teras. If you hunt mages, become friends with an empath.
You could try keen and skull temple in the nations as an alternative.

From my experience overhunting Skull Temple in Illistim--you should do just fine as an archer at that level. And at the low end you'll get ogres/vipers/boars that are also pretty easy for an archer.
Skull temple and Black Forest. Temple is so easy with a bow it's ridiculous.

Do either the Keen or Skull Temple have spellburst?

Skull Temple definitely does.

The keen didn't have spell burst to my knowledge. No idea if it still does. This post is not helpful.

Yeah...probably could have been the fact that I'm 2x spells, 1x MIU, 1x AS so spell burst is for the weak. Carry on.

At 66 or 67 you can get into Maaghara Tower and that's pretty good hunting for an archer (no spellburst either.. sort of).
Also.. you don't take death damage against fire mages if you KILL them with ranged.

Does KILL still use the default aim setting? Or is that an unaimed shot?

Unless things recently changed, the last time I shot a Fire Mage, my ranger got the death stare damage.

.
You nock an arrow in your thanot long bow.
You fire an arrow at a fire mage!
AS: +461 vs DS: +260 with AvD: +32 + d100 roll: +20 = +253
... and hit for 90 points of damage!
Strike to the eye penetrates skull, ocular fluid sprays widely!
The fire mage goes limp and he falls over as the fire slowly fades from his eyes.
The fire mage no longer bristles with energy.
A fire mage glances around, looking a bit less confident.
The glowing specks of energy surrounding a fire mage suddenly shoot off in all directions, then quickly fade away.
The tingling sensation and sense of security leaves a fire mage.
The brilliant luminescence fades from around a fire mage.
A fire mage appears somehow different.
A fire mage becomes solid again.
The guiding force leaves you.
The scintillating white light surrounding the arrow fades some.
The arrow sticks in a fire mage's right eye!
Roundtime: 5 sec.

Unless things recently changed, the last time I shot a Fire Mage, my ranger got the death stare damage.Forgot to mention.. I AM hidden when I'm doing this.
I think that's the 'trigger'. A kill shot from hiding.

Sorry for the multiple posts. I remember the details now (haven't been playing much so things have become fuzzy).
The mages only do the flare damage when you kill them (duh). If you remain hidden during the death.. you don't take any damage. If you get pulled out.. you take damage.

Late to the party, but I used to hurl daggers from hiding at fire mages and take no damage when I remained hidden.
