I thought it'd be interesting to suggest some of our lesser known, yet favorite bands in hopes of discovering some good new music out there.
I'd like to start it out with a band called Ours. The lead singer Jimmy Gnecco has an astounding voice. This is the first of their two releases, Distorted Lullabies.

For a sample, check out: Sometimes (http://theworldisours.5u.com/Ours%20-%20Acoustic%20EP%20-%20Sometime.mp3)
I'm looking forward to hearing some other suggestions!

Music Snobs, to me, refers to people who insist that all bands who have "made it" now suck. And the only good bands are ones that other people haven't heard of. If you like a band, then I'm happy for you, but all bands who have had a hit or two do not suck. Personally, I started listening to Nine Inch Nails before they made it big. And I still listen to them now.

Heh, I hear ya. I don't give a shit how much jack the band's making or anything else. If the music's good, it's good if they "sold out" or not, and if the music sucks, who cares how much the band members are suffering for their art?
But I don't mind hearing new stuff I hadn't heard before.
Hot Water Music.
Planes Mistaken For Stars.
Ladytron.
The Replacements.
Pain.
Murder City Devils.
The Icarus Line.
Converge.
Toots and the Maytals.
I could add about 3/4ths of the bands in my collection because I'm better than everyone else, but I won't. Those are just off the top of my head.
If anyone wants to do a mix tape/CD swap, and trusts me not to come to their house and cut them and their family to pieces, let me know.

I trust you peamie but you would hate my music :(
I wouldn't mind a bluegrass/old shitkicking country mix.
Bluegrass = Tennessee Punk Rock. :P

My newest bluegrass favorite is a collection with no vocals. Great banjo and fiddle though. Problem is I bought it at a garage sale. No jewel case and the disk itself does not say who the band is. Stupid CD producers. It has 16 songs some of which include:
Foggy Mountain Breakdown
Aldeeranina Melody
Shuckin' The Corn
Down Where the River Bends
What do you want to bet that Thisotherkingdom is holding his head and screaming 'NO NO NO' right about now? Country rules!

You listen to Allison Krauss? I know she's mainstream, but I like her voice with the banjo/fiddle in the background.
Also enjoy Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. They opened for Dave Matthews years ago and I borrowed a few of their CDs from my Uncle (big bluegrass guy). No vocals, lots of banjo... and the drummitar.

Hah, most of the music I listen to was written 30 years ago.
Heh, an Asian girl who listens to country. DO YOU KNOW SEE WHY I HATE THIS RETARDED STATE.

Mint, try doing a search....*cough* or looking at your local music shop for "Flat and Scruggs" Some of those tunes you listed there are by them.....
Peam, so glad you discovered the replacements, fantastic tunes from them.
D~
Two of my best friends are brothers, 33 and 36 respectively, they're HUUUUUUUUGE into music, so they turn me, the young whippersnapperdon'tknowshit, onto a lot of stuff. Kind of weird, but I like those guys a lot better than I like most kids my age.
We're going to see Camper Van Beethoven next month too. :D

They're more bluegrass/funk. And have song names like "Sinister Minister". The banjo (he calls it something, who knows) player is the main guy, "Bela Fleck". There are a bunch of other guys in the band, one who made a guitar with a complete drum set on it.

You listen to Allison Krauss?
Is she the one who sings the backup vocals on that Damien Rice song, "What I am to you?"
That's Allison something.

Funker Vogt. If you're in to techno/EBM/Darkwave, and haven't heard of them, go uh...buy a CD or two. They're extremely awesome to the max.
Hmm. Flogging Molly would be the first band I'd want to tell the world about. And then, in second place, would be FreezePop. Entirely different genres, of course, but they rule respectively.

Down Where the River Bends Are Lester and Scruggs any good? Because the only versions of those songs I can find are by them.

I know she sang backup earlier in her career but I don't know what groups so it is possible especially if Damien Rice sings country/bluegrass.

I thought Lester and Scruggs had vocals though and this CD does not. I will check it out at the music store anyway. And thanks for checking since apparently I am not that great at research. I forget that google is my friend.
