I want to pwn everything in sight as soon as possible.

Which should I go for, Minor or Major Elemental?

major

What race are you?

If you're race is designed for bolting.. Major. If for CS, Minor.

Dark Elf, because it looked like they could do both pretty well.

I've been down both roads.

My Wizard was originally a spell-up/comic relief. So he went up the Minors.

The other Wizard I hunt with knows she has MnE spells, so she goes up MjE. And is quite possibly the most powerful bolt wizardess I've seen for her train.

Well, I'll only have my own spells. I'd like to have a decent DS, and be able to fry (in whichever way) anything that looks at me sort of funny.

Pure bolt or swinging to start?

Artha

I'm swinging until I have enough mana to hunt with effectively.

Consider me a shitty warrior until level 10ish.

wizard circle is good to have until what? 913?

So to be a pure machine, I'd say 913 then rest in minor.

(1Xing always 500)-

my advice -

plan to get 425 at 25 and 430 at 30

I think balance will serve you best in the long run

at 67 I have 54 wizard ranks, 61 minor, 60 major

Personally, my wizard is 2.7 spells, gets 12 ranks f magic every train, and rocks.

At train 32, 32 wiz, 30 me, and 24 mje.

2x aracne/MIU/spell aim
1x hp/share
1.3x lore

and off the top of my head I forgot what else...

So for me its not a question of *which* circle, more of a question of which circle tops off first.

At 78 Askip has:

78 wiz
75 mne
60 mje

He could have more spells, instead he's 1x in FA & Survival plus learning Disarm & spirit mana.

:D

Damn, I didn't know it was so easy to triple spells.

What's the standard training plan for a wizard?

Your spell lists:
Minor Elemental...48
Major Elemental...48
Wizard Base.......37
Use the SKILLS command to view your progress towards your chosen goals.
Use SPELL ALL to view detailed list of spells.

once I max my 425/430 I'm gonna go 2 ranks in major one level, then 1 rank in wiz 1 rank in minors for the next level. all triples going to wizard spells.

on tripling... I triple every other level, and double in lore for the others. with some TPs left over.

Standard runestaffer...

2-8 armor ranks
Physical Training till full HP
1x Arcane Symbol
1x MIU
1x EMC
1.5x Harness Power
2x Spell Aiming
2x Spell Training(Minimum)
1x Elemental Lore
24 ranks Climbing
24 Ranks Swimming
24 Ranks Perception

Of course everyone has different priorities...variances I've noticed most include:

Lore vs. No Lore - Its a personal preference. If you do go with lores, I highly recommend sticking to 1.

EMC capping at 24-30 ranks - Most people consider it only useful for mana sharing. It also has the +1 mana return on pulse per 10 ranks. It also has ranging effects on many spells that people forget about. From recharge item, enchant(debatable HOW much), mana leech, etc. It is what I would consider a 'pure' skill so I wouldn't go under 1x.

Going beyond 1x for MIU. I'd only do this if you have access to really nice imbedded items/selfchargers/rechargables and are too low level to enchant up to what you want. Otherwise it really is a waste of points to get it just for staffdux.

Harness Power - Training varies on how mana efficient you are at hunting I suppose. My wizard did fine with 1x but I felt more comfortable at 1.5x because mana was tight if any problems happened during a hunt. I will say that anyone that needs 3x HP and swears by it has no idea what they're doing.

Kit that's a good list.

Anticor's route is fun to watch in action.

Here is one variation on Kit's theme:

Askip (at level 78), your current skill bonuses and ranks (including all modifiers) are:
Skill Name | Current Current
| Bonus Ranks
Armor Use..........................| 30 6
Brawling...........................| 5 1
Physical Fitness...................| 96 22
Arcane Symbols.....................| 179 79
Magic Item Use.....................| 257 157
Spell Aiming.......................| 260 160
Harness Power......................| 179 79
Elemental Mana Control.............| 140 40
Spirit Mana Control................| 20 4
Survival...........................| 180 80
Disarming Traps....................| 15 3
Perception.........................| 180 80
Climbing...........................| 120 30
Swimming...........................| 120 30
First Aid..........................| 180 80

Spell Lists
Major Elemental....................| 61

Spell Lists
Minor Elemental....................| 75

Spell Lists
Wizard.............................| 78
Training Points: 25 Phy 0 Mnt (2222 Phy converted to Mnt)

I've doubled in MIU because it is a factor in ET.

If I do not triple in spells for a level I seem to have plenty of spare TPs, and I expect to have 24 SpMC before too long. I have Major Sanctuary items that I do not want to go to waste. :D

If I'm not interested in enchanting, is there any reason to train the wizard circle past 20?

Yes. familair gate is still the best form of transportation in Elanthia.

in addition, increasing the bonus for 905 and 913 is also effective.

I'm still on the fence about Runestaves so I'm trained in shield and edged.

Except for when you blow your own head off.....twice in a row.

The rest of 900's is nice, and the further you get into it, the less said deaths happen.

Couple of things...

I actually found that 14 ranks of SMC allows me to share optimally with anyone else thats well overtrained in the skill(most runestaff clerics, empaths, etc). I can't get past that amount because it is really painful to squeeze out the few ranks so I could use my raise scrolls without failure. Just doesn't seem worth it.

At level 80...
Major Elemental....................| 71
Minor Elemental....................| 70
Wizard.............................| 72

The training would really depend on what level you are and what you have access to. If you are under 930, 430, 520 then you have to choose which wizard-defining spells you want first, if at all.

At mid levels, you'll probably want to mix around 400's to max out the Targetting/Barrier. 900's for enchanting/gating/uncapped spells.

At certain areas, I found bolting was really bad, e-wave and other knockdowns were kinda sucking. Keeping 400's to level meant I could use 415 as an initial disabler/killer if need be.

Up to 70 I had neglected the 500's but kept my 400/900 fully singled. From 70-80 I caught it up because of the leech help, my gate was working 'enough,' wasn't planning on enchanting 7x, targetting was near capped, didn't need seem to need the boosted CS anymore.
