Drawn-on eyebrows?

Yet another reason I am baffled by my sex.

I'm at school the other day and I walk past this chick. She's very attractive, Asian girl, nicely dressed, etc.

HER EYEBROWS WERE SHAVED OFF AND REDRAWN WITH PENCIL.

Now I wonder to myself...WHY do girls do this? I find that many, (mostly Mexican) girls tend to do this. And they're usually brunettes.

Generally speaking, brunettes tend to have thick...usually...a LOT of hair. And to those that don't, why in gods name would you shave off it all to pencil it on?

I mean, it doesn't look any better at all! You can totally tell it ISN'T YOUR HAIR.

Someone should introduce these girls to the world of waxing and tweezers and let them know that Hoochie-mama drawn-on eyebrows is not...normal.

I mean its one thing to have very thinly-shaped eyebrows and yeah, some have other motives for penciling ones on (chemo, someone played a mean joke while passed out drunk, etc).

If you do, do this...please...pick a color that MATCHES your haircolor!

This chick had black hair, with auburn eyebrow pencil sketched on.

My eyebrows are freakishly light brown. I feel soo bad about myself though we have all these insecurities and abnormalities unlike other people. You are sooo blessed jesae!

When I was waxing for people and doing their hair all the time, I asked a couple people why they did that.

They actually PREFER the way it looks. Also some of them just couldn't tweeze their own eyebrows or didn't have enough money for waxing.

They feel its easier just to shave them off and draw it on.

I'm curious though.. If you dyed your hair blonde.. do you need to dye your eye brows blonde too, if they are originally brown? or dyed red hair.. to red eye brows?

I went platinum blonde before and it went well with my light brown eyebrows. I only darken it when I wear dark eyeshadow.

It depends on the persons skin coloring overall.

If you go completely platinum and you have lighter brown eyebrows, I wouldn't say its necessary. If you have medium brown, you might want to consider lightening maybe a shade, and if you have black you should really consider bleaching them.

Eyebrows really aren't that hard to dye.

I dye mine a red tone to match the highlights in my hair. It just gives it a nice finished look. But you can also use a tinted eyebrow pencil to just shade some areas.

Dying your eyebrows isn't dangerous necessarily. But I'd have a professional do it, if you haven't before.

Having thin hair is one thing, Shalla. I mean as long as you have actually eyebrow hair its all good. And you can even use eyebrow pencils to ENHANCE it. Just as long as you aren't seriously making two semi-circles over your eyes. And yeah, they were severely arched, she looked spooked.

I cannot imagine why anybody would want to shave off their existing eyebrows and pencil in something else. With all the products and techniques available today, there is no reason that I can think of to do such a thing. Eew!

Actually I know a couple asian girls that do that. I think it's so nasty. They shave off their eyebrows, some even tattoo it, or just draw it in. I hate that, I think it looks so tacky and ghetto.

I did have a friend in cosmetology school who was black but had lighter skin and had a little bit of hair for her eyebrows. She had to pencil in a over the hairs everyday. She got tired of it and got them tattooed on.

Seriously, it looked so good, because she kept the little bit of hair and just had them fill in the area. I was shocked.

My grandmother draws in her eyebrows. She had thin eyebrows when she was younger, but they were beautifully shaped. Then she just eventually plucked them to oblivion so now she has to pencil them in. When my fiance saw that, he didn't want me plucking any hair on my face for fear that the same would happen to me. I hardly think it'll happen though. I like my eyebrows. :)

LOL My cousin used to (and maybe still does, I haven't seen her in a long time) to do that...shave her eyebrows off then draw them back in. She had no issues with her real eyebrows. They weren't horribly thick or terribly thin, they were just fine, so there was no reason for her to do it other than she just wanted to. I thought it was the stupidest thing I'd ever seen.

I always wondered what would happen if a person who did that got caught in a heavy rainstorm..heh.

I agree with whoever made the comment about wax and tweezers. I'd never wax my own eyebrows simply because I don't trust myself. I don't have steady hands so I could see myself screwing up and taking off the whole thing..heh. But it only cost like $5 to get them done at the salon..it's not hard on the pocketbook by any means.

Maybe that's why some people though do it? Maybe they tried to wax their eyebrows themselves and screwed it up so bad they had no choice but to shave them.

I tell the girls that I know that shave them to let that bitch grow. Even I'll shape that shit for them. I already said it looks tacky.

My mom, my older sister, and my aunts has their eyebrows tatted on, eyeliner and lip liner tatted on. Disgusting and I tell them this every time I see them, cos I gotta say something back when they say that about my tats, LOL.

They couldn't figure out what was wrong, so they took him to the doctor and the doctor said that he had crabs all up in his eyebrows.

He got them from the lap dance the night before.

I have a friend who shaves her eyebrows then draws the eyebrows back in. Wouldn't be so bad except she can never get each eyebrow the same. She also wears heavy eye makeup so she ends up looking like a surprised raccoon most of the time. Very hard to concentrate on anything but her eyebrows when I am talking to her.
