In other news, my father and I agree: He is much better than the guys on American Idol.

Note that he's 50 years old.

Which one is she?

If she's the exotic looking Hawaiian chick, I concur.

That does suck, and proves that America has no clue whatsoever as to what is talented.

Example: William Hung.

There's 2. One with the flower on her hair, and one down to earth.. who is camille. Flower girl has the Tia Carrere Syndrome.

My poor poor camille. The look on her face the whole show after what simon said. :(

Tia carrerre syndrome?

As long as flower girl is there, I don't care. Tia Carrere...mmm...if only she wasn't like 20 years older than me...and not a movie star...

EDIT: I think Tia Carrere syndrome = pouty lips?

No. Tia Carrere syndrome is someone who is born in hawaii and is native hawaiian.. but feel the need to mention I am .. mix of spanish, chinese, filipino, dutch and the whole freakin united nations. Just say Hawaiian period damnit.. and not say you are mixed of everything just to be accepted by mainstream media or western culture or ashamed to let people know of their roots.

I'm mad that you posted that like we were supposed to know all that bullshit.

I'd have to say I think its a two horse race. Fantasia and George are more than a head up on the competition. I'm hoping george wins because Fantasia can essentially walk into a record exec's office and get a contract, and I dont know if george can.

My impressions:

Jennifer Hudson: she oversings just about everything, and she's not that entertaining on stage.

John Stevens: he's a crooner, but boy is he bad. He should have gotten the boot.

John Peter Louis: he should be next in line, but at least he has an idea what he's doing on a stage.

Latoya: She's got a great voice, great attitude, great performing skills, but I think inevitably she'll be compared to Fantasia, and she's a notch below.

Jasmine: she had one good performance. She's been pretty average ever since.

Dianne Degarmo: also over the top, but a much better performer than Jennifer Hudson, with comparable voice power and lack of voice control.

How I'd rank the remaining ones:
1) Fantasia
2) George
3) Latoya
4) Dianna
5) Jasmine
6) John Peter Louis
7) Jennifer
8) John Stevens

At the risk of being castrated by Shalla, I must hereby edit my rankings to include that if Camille were still there, she'd be number 1.

I'm at a toss up with Fantasia, George and Latoya. Each one is awesome in their own right. The rest don't matter to me really.

I do like John Stevens though.

I'd like to see the next Andrew WK sing, not a bunch of fags.

Dear American Idol,
You suck.

Of the remaining ones, I'll score them using my own scoring system to this point:

Name Voice Stage Attitude Total
Fantasia 9.5 10 9 28.5
George 8 9.5 10 27.5
Latoya 9 9 8 26
Dianne 7 5 8 20
Jasmine 5 6 6 17
John P. 1 8 7 16
Jennifer 7 1 3 11
John S. 6 1 1 8

And in all honesty, I would have given Camille an 8 in voice, a 4 in stage presence (she was always terrified up there for some reason) and a 5 in attitude, because she always seemed ready to learn and not yap back at every comment the judges made.

Ummmm, John Stevens in the bomb, kthanx.

In all honesty, I've never seen the show at all. But John Stevens live two streets down from me, and he's a friend of my little sister.

It's not his genre. If you asked Frank Sinatra to sing fucking pop music, you think he'd sound good? Shit. Maybe America wants a throwback to the old days. They certainly seemed to not care about current trends when they picked Ruben Studdard last year.

-TheE-
P.S. The reason John Stevens isn't gonna get booted any time soon? There's like some huge grassroots thing here in Buffalo to make sure he wins or something. People organizing call ins, or some crazy shit like that. Buffalo wants this bad. I'd rather have a Super Bowl or a Stanley Cup.
