Often wondered why people do this. I've had sex a few time in gemstone but only to RP my character as a man who has needs and to get a couple laughs out of the situation. However, it seems like the women and maybe other men really get off on having text. Seems to me with the abundance of porn on the internet there are much better ways to get yourself aroused on your computer if you wish to do so. I guess a lot of women enjoy reading steamy romance novels though so I guess its not much different. Just wanted to hear some opinions (male and female) on whether you actually like doing this.

Well, I think then that some people probably do enjoy it. Isn't it similar to the whole romance novel? Not just that novel, if you go back far enough most novels have a lot of sexual aspects to them. Swift's Gulliver's Travels is full of sexual content, especially when the giants are trying to shove him into their boobs. Lol, sorry thought you used the frown because I didn't say who I was. My theory was pretty much in the thread though. It seems like the few women I did engage in IG sex with were hardcore into it. "They" say that sex is 98% mental, and I don't know whether that's gender specific, but I think it might be. One poster said men are more visual, and that's most likely true as well, considering the porn industry. So without knowing the character, you can't define a bad outfit. However there's a thread about bad alterations, which is valid for most. Saying it's tacky doesn't automatically mean it's bad because, again, it works for the character.

The romance theory is a pretty good one. I mean really, I am a sucker for the corny crap to the some of the macho stuff. RP is common in the bedroom in reality so why not as well in fantasy since it is way easier to do.

Some are not into it, just like some are into it. Its a personal choice just like how a character is played in game. Talking about the experience before hand explaining what it means, (its just a game, not for real. . . This is a one time deal, blah blah blah). Helps save you from stalkers too. Use some common sense. And remember there are feelings behind the screen from embarrassment, to actual affection, to psycho’s.

Sex is healthy, ever meet someone not getting laid or who doesn't believe in masturbation? They are usually pretty uptight.

Clerea (sp?) was pretty much an IG and RL whore. She was pretty funny to watch. I had some girl about ten years ago that started stalking me in real life, and anytime I logged into the game she would go into a sexual torrent. She was the only person I ever had to report once I started getting home made jewelry and paintings in my snail mail. I still have no clue how she figured out my address. Once I told her to fuck off, my best friend at the time who was playing, was getting text raped by her, and also started getting love letters and shit in his mail. It was pretty creepy. I did my share of cyber back in the day. I felt like it was kind of a natural progression of IG relationships sometimes. When you spend hours a day with someone that you are e-tracted to, the hanging out turns to flirting turns to nakey time in the bath house in Solhaven. A big part of it was exploring the creativity of it. Cyber can be an art, like writing an erotic novel only in real time. It was fun.

I wouldn't do it now, for a lot of reasons, but I don't think anyone that does it is doing anything wrong. AIM stalking is kind of creepy, but that is what block is for.

Figured they meant to put it with this post instead and just made an error. IT seems like a sincerer comment too, expect they forgot to take credit for it. I usually ignore these type of remarks, but because it sounded genuine (to a degree) I felt it deserved some type of an answer.

Okay, so this is my first time posting on the PC ever. Never had an interest in it until there was a whole thread about me in character complaints that got derailed into a bash Foxs thread (and here I was hoping it would go back to me but didn't. Sadface).

I am a girl. I do not get off on cybering but I have done it on some of my girls as a natural storyline progression. There have been times when I've gotten riled up enough to tackle my now ex-bf afterwards but I never got off on it myself. It was all very eh to me.

Also, on those lines, I did it because my ex hated the thought of me doing it. He likened it to cheating (how he came to that conclusion, eh) and basically wouldn't allow me to do it, even if he was benefiting him so I did it behind his back. Sometimes, a story needs it. Sometimes it doesn't. Books, movies, etc. they all have a natural progression for characters when there are romantic interests. This is along those same lines.

I got some bad rep for this asking me to explain who I am, who I play. Normally, I wouldn't care but considering the circumstances, I will.

I play Riend, a sylvankind rogue. She is a quiet (IG, on lnet I'm a pretty mouthy pita), reserved person who in my all my years of playing her (started her in '96) has had one husband and he quit before I did in '98. She doesn't flaunt herself around, She does not flirt, She does not cyber. She holds her tongue unless her opinion is requested or unless she truly feels it adds to the conversation. This does not mean she has no opinions, she just prefers to not make a spectacle of herself.

Telsas is very different and that difference is part of what attracts her as a friend. I spend a great deal of time around Telsas and her fiance, and therefore I tend to be privy to a lot of information most people do not see in the few hours they see her at a merchant or in TSC. We all assume a lot of things in short interactions with people, I am very guilty of that. I just like to offer up other perspectives when I feel someone is being put in a worse light then they deserve.
