Well, it's better than television. My assumption is, at least with a computer, kids learn some kind of a useful skill that might come in handy in the future, instead of just getting fat and learning to swear.

Although I don't disagree with the sentiment I have no thoughts of my kids learning useful skills. The internet is better for only one reason, the breadth of information is large and more distributively biased. Whereas the TV you are really only getting one point of view (and that view is mostly involved with you working more to buy more stuff).
