Nestled within the confines of the shard is a small sand elemental.

Does this thing hang out in the room with you, visible to everyone else, like an animal companion or familiar, or is it basically contained to the shard and your hand?

Shard and hand. It does have idle scripts though. It can also be put to sleep so it won't trigger them.

It's not like an AC in the way that it's highlighted and others can interact with it, but they see what it's constantly doing. At least that's what I think. I've never used this thing.

That's right. Even fully trained, it has a chance to slap you around, so - unless you enjoy that kind of thing - it's not something you can have out (and awake/moving/visible/scripted) all the time. As mentioned, can sleep in your hand with no actions.

Great for making runestones.

That isn't true. Fully trained, it will stop hitting you.

My mistake, then. According to the loresinging mine is fully trained in everything but quake and it still will bash/flay.

The loresong training levels are more of a range than a distinct point. Even when it sings at the highest tier, you need to keep going. Eventually it will stop.

Whattttt that is the stupidest thing ever!

EVER!

Good thing that part of the training is way easier and quicker than the encouragement part.
