I hate 'em. He whines like a bitch about every change, gives away his items, rerolls his characters, quits, comes back a month later saying he was "dragged back" by something or someone, people give him his items back, he plays for another two months, and repeats, all the while constantly reliving the "glory days" and talking about how 3!iT3 he is cause he's been around so long.
He's about one hundred times more annoying than that huge run on sentence I just typed. I started hating this fuckstain when I learned he was nothing but a drama queen. I can't be the only person that hates 'em.
I think he's a pretty good guy, if not a bit of an attention whore.

I don't think anything could be as annoying as 100 x that run on sentance. Especially Celtar.

He's still playing? I remember the two or three or four times I helped talk him out of quitting. Then it became obvious what a waste of time that was so I pretty much stopped it. I always liked him except for that 'you can't stop me, I'm quitting so there's no point in trying to talk me out of it but go ahead anyway' thing he's got going.
Course, I didn't quit for good myself until I found a replacement in Inferno. I just hung on for years paying for something I never used. Quitting Inferno was a lot easier, having learned what not to do after GS. Anyway, he's not a bad guy, all told. There's certainly worse.
Raven
Yeah, he can be irritating when you're not in his in-crowd. If you aren't part of the old days, he practically doesn't want to know who you are. Well, it seems like that, anyway.
But I don't hate him particularly. I loathe all the "the old days were better, and everyone IN the old days was better than you too!" people equally.

I hate Celtar. Every post he has, at one point or another he says "when I played on GEnie" or something along the lines that says "I've been around longer then you, therefore I am better and my opinions mean more."
I really hope he just leaves and goes back and stops with his CONSTANT quitting. Guess what, NOBODY CARES! I'm tired of his constant "I'm leaving, cry for me." Just play the game and stop with the constant crap about how long you've been playing in every post.
I think pretty much anyone waving the "I PLAYED ON GENIE" flag can be dismissed. If you've ever seen any logs from that period, a lot of the "legends" of the time were, in fact, twits with uber-powerful items who went around inciting PvP at every corner.
Ravenstorm
04-07-2004, 02:42 AM
I don't recall much PvP at all, actually. Though Thalior and Krisenfest did have an ongoing feud and killed each other periodically. Whenever one of them died, the first question wasn't 'Where is he?' but 'Did Thal/Kris do that?'
The items though were indeed inarguably powerful. Dart and Kodos especially had such nice toys.
Raven
I think celtars a pretty good guy. But I'm biased to being friendly with him.

Celtar is probably the biggest hypocrite I know of in game. He is one of the biggest reasons I stopped posting and reading the official boards.
In Celtar's mind, he can bitch and whine about anything and everything pertaining to the game. Anyone he likes can do the same. Should anyone else post a complaint, he's likely the first on their case about "This is why the game is crap".
He may be a great guy to people he knows, to everyone else he's just a fuck.
I wish he would just leave for real.
He is rather predictable. Before he leaves he goes on this cycle of "this type of person is dragging down the game", "Changes like this ruin the game for everyone". Then he passes his shit out and quits. He returns a few months later under the guise of a saint and kisses ass.
The cycle has been repeated over and over again. It's old.

That basically sums it up for me. I'm sure he's a swell guy, but unless you're in his crowd, he treats you like crap.
I could do without his cries of coming and going, then again I can't stand that need on general principle, so him doing it every few months can get very annoying.
I don't hate him, since I don't really hate anyone, however I can't stand him for his woes for the [g]olden days, how he plays with his younger characters and slides in there, "Don't you know who I am? I'm Celtar!" and how he just adores name dropping. Once he knows who you are, if you should change your name and finds out from his friends who you are, he'll out you in a heartbeat. He's a pompous twit.

I like him. If you just ignore his comings and goings, he's a good guy. I think at some point or another, everyone is like, "Fuck this game, I'm done", and then they come back in one form or another.
He's cool in my book, and regardless of what you may think of him, he's got a big heart and looks out for his friends. You can't fault anyone for that.

I'm sick and tired of people claiming that Celtar has 'a crowd'. This is a fallacy and probably started by Celtar himself. He belongs to MY crowd dammit.. MINE.
My crowd. Don't forget that. He's been part of my crowd since Genie. Sure I wasn't around then.. but they knew I would be coming!

I've always enjoyed rp with Celtar, I think he is fun. Yes, he leaves and comes back, but its always good to see him. I laughed when I read the comment about him being such a man whore, his characters are always ladies men, he is a great flirt. As far as him trying to put it in all the women, thats just wrong and you don't know him well if you say that. He is just a great flirt and women love that about him. I can't tell you the times he has been at a table, trying to woo all the women there at the same time. Its funny and not serious at all.
Hell, at my wedding to Ardwen he was trying to get me to run away with him at the altar.

I would much rather hang around with players that knew how to roleplay rather than dealing with the idiots who only powerhunt and have zero roleplay ability.

The thing that pissed me off the most about Celtar is that he loves to out people. I don't want people to know who I am playing. Most importantly, I sold one of my characters and I promised the person who bought it I wouldn't say anything. Lo and behold Jim finds out and outs me on the goddamn public boards. This is why I don't tell him who I play anymore, or anyone for that matter.
Deep down he is definitely a good guy, and someone I used to get along with and hunt with every so often. However, he has some very troubling complexes about this game that reflect poorly on his image. The best thing he could do is quit, forever, as this game is not a source of enjoyment to him the way it is to many of us. I don't care who knows who, who was around "back when", or any of that trite shit. He constantly berated me for skyrocketing up levels while he didn't. No wonder bitch, you keep rerolling like a whiny baby!

Celtar's player has a habit of outting people. When I changed my login name that shows on the official boards, he found out who I was from a board moderator friend and immediately outted me. I like to stay anonymous there by never stating my characters' names nor specifics about situations I run into in the game. The second he mentioned my characters, I had to write to the head board moderator to remove the post.
I'm sure he's a nice guy, but even nice guys have enemies.

No I'm pretty sure it was a board mod. At one point, Heathyr/Amby used to be board moderator, and also is one of his better friends, and I believe his currect roommate. So my bet is on her at the moment because she wasn't jazzed with me at the time either.

I can't even express how unutterably insulting it is, to me, to be around men like that. I didn't know this aspect of him, except by reputation, because he'd never dream of flirting with a nobody like me, but if he ever did....
Maybe I'm in the minority. But aren't there any other girls out there that think it's a little insulting when a guy flirts with anything with boobs? I mean.. I'd be more flattered and swayed by the attention if I didn't KNOW he would flirt with my best friend, my grandmother, my second cousin, my OBVIOUSLY engaged lesbian lover, exactly like that too.
And that whole thing about how hilarious it is that he was trying to kidnap you from your own wedding. You must be more tolerant than I am.. and Ardwen must be too. Even just knowing it was a game to him, I think I'd get tired of that pretty quickly, especially on my wedding day.

Board Moderators have no access to billing... only tools to moderate the boards with.
Could it be that your writing style didn't change between logon ids and that Celtar simply put two and two together?
Many mysteries have been solved by that method.

While a GH does not have access to billing info, they do have access to IPs while on the board. Hell, they may have access to log in info while hosting in-game as well.

I had specifically changed my handle on the official boards to be anonymous because people for some reason felt the need to comment to me in the game to my characters about things I the PLAYER was posting about. I did not want my characters associated with what I was saying, since they are separate entities from me.
I'm not sure who you are, Tea, or if you mentioned my name, I just don't remember it or didn't see it. However since his purpose was to be malicious, that's when I took notice.
I hardly post on the official boards anymore anyway. I outted myself here because I could care less who knows me or doesn't at this point. A few people from here have interacted with me already and was pretty neat because it allowed me to see a side of them that I wasn't expecting.

I like Celtar personally. He and I have fairly conflicting views on SIMU in general, but as a person in the game, he's a sweet guy.
I guess I've never seen the "outting" side because I only seriously play one PC, and I don't have much of an issue with regard to who knows. If someone really wants to find you/attack you/etc, they will find a way to do it, regardless as CT's example points out. I don't know her characters either btw :) .
There's very little about me that I'd actually have a problem with someone 'outting' as long as it's presented factually, but I've found that if you don't make an issue of who you are, generally people just don't give a damn in GS.

Anyway, I didn't mean to froth this topic very much. This is just the only person really who gets under my skin for my own reasons, and not many do that. Hopefully this time around he'll have a more positive outlook on the game and the people who play in it.

Heh, least thats always been the rumor. When ya made the bye-bye thread on the official boards and then like a week or so later, Tayvin was back!
Like during the Troll Quest several people whispered to me, this isn't the real Tayvin. You know when we were looking for the uber dumb entrance that didn't exist till a GM made it.
Anyways...
I never had a problem with Celtar... But, I can see where people will have a problem.
Hey now, I left for a good 16 days! Never been sold, no. Not yet anyway! lol

I'll give you a cool grand for Tayvin. I'd pay more, but well...nobody likes hobbits.
