Hey guys. I'm a former Gemstone player, nearly 10 years removed, though I had a short comeback about 2 years ago. I'm getting bored and frustrated by the community of WoW, and its making me miss the ol' GS days. I'm thinking about maybe giving it another go, but I was wondering if you could let me know, how many players are on these days during peak times? A couple years ago it was probably 400-500, is it still around there?
Also, Shattered sounds like it could be interesting. What type of population does that have?
Thanks in advance for the info. WoW raids may have been fun for a while, but nothing beats a minotaur hunting party (that inevitably leads to everyone in the group's death).

If you like mass death, come back and join the Guardians of Sunfist, and then go warcamping. ;)
Shattered has taken some of the population but that's actually a good thing, those who remain tend to be the better players. There are probably about 350 on in primetime now. Over 200 odd hours.

New questions!
If you get a subscription to Shattered, can you still play Prime? Or are they two completely separate subscriptions?
And those warcamps sound interesting. Sounds like I'd have a fun time trying to stance dance with over a hundred enemies. Can you join that society if you're a member of Voln or CoL, or can you only choose one of the three?

You have to get a prime subscription to get a shattered subscription. They're on the same account. Shattered is a $5 add on to your normal prime fee.
So you can still play prime with a shattered account, but you can't use them at the same time.

You can only join one society.

You can only join one society, Sunfist is now one of those.
Do you mean can you still do warcamps even if you are not Sunfist?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Now I have to decide whether to stick with Voln or try this new society!
Only stick with Voln if you have a good RP reason or you really like group fog. GoS is mechanically WAY better otherwise.

My reason wouldn't be for RP, but for the fact that my character uses Voln Fu. I like having the extra option of attack, since otherwise, my warrior can be a little one-dimensional. Though I did just try out some banshee hunting and ended up whacking 'em with my mattock today instead of using Voln Fu, and it was more effective...

Yes, you can group with Fisters even if not a GoS member.

Why would you want to? Warcamping can be fun with a big group where you're slaughtering the swarm, but with a small group.. you get implosions, vines, boil earths, etc. Not fun, and the loot isn't great.

Fast experience. You can usually ring to/back from a camp once you've located it, and fry within seconds due to the unique gen rate. Several people at cap do this by MAing. Think about a XXX where you spend only 2 minutes or so frying, possibly less, and the rest of a time on a node getting 3x/2x absorption. There is also the issue of being able to hunt in an area where there may not be an appropriate level hunting ground.

Many Asian and African countries have high growth rates. Afghanistan has a current growth rate of 4.8%, representing a doubling time of 14.5 years! If Afghanistan's growth rate remained the same (which is very unlikely and the country's projected growth rate for 2025 is a mere 2.3%), then the population of 30 million would become 60 million in 2020, 120 million in 2035, 280 million in 2049, 560 million in 2064, and 1.12 billion in 2078! This is a ridiculous expectation. As you can see, population growth percentages is better utilized for short term projections.

Fair enough, man. Fair enough.
