Killer Kitten

I'm going to whine here because it's 3 in the morning and there's nobody else awake to listen to my rant.
This started the day after Memorial Day when my psycho business partner informed me that we 'no longer worked together well' and that she was giving notice. She said she'd stay 2 months, to help reduce the number of animals in the shelter and help with the move to our new building.
I said great, maybe as you lighten your duties you'll start enjoying the work again and not want to leave.
The next day I came in to work and all the bitch did was sit at her desk typing, pausing now and then to sip her drink or glare at me. The room was full of kittens in cages, the air conditioning was off and the kittens were screaming because they had no water.
She sat on her ass and watched me care for that room, then for the other 3 rooms. By then I was exhausted so I called another volunteer in to help me. We started on the clinic room and she barged into the room saying there was an adopter up front who needed help. I suggested she help him and she snapped, "You told me I should delegate, I'm delegating."
The next day was even more nerve wracking. The next day I'd finally hit my piss-off point and I visited the bank and shut off her access to the company account and her credit card. You quit, you don't get to touch the money.
She held a meeting with a 'mediator' the next day but all she'd say is we can't work together (no explanation as to why) and that one of us has to leave. She said she should be the one to stay since I'm not 'capable' of running it on my own. I said I'd be glad to leave as soon as she handed me the 30 grand I put up to start the company and got the fuck out of my buildings. Both of them.
So she stalked out and locked me out of the paypal account and the website. I got out my tools and locked her out of the building. Then I told Mike what was going on and he recovered the website long enough to copy it and put it up on our new web address. The paypal account we'll probably never get back.
So here I was sole owner of the company. As I investigated the website and fundraising I realized she hadn't done any fundraising or serious website updating for at least 2 months. But she had accepted lots and lots of cats and kittens into the shelter without me knowing about it. This was easy since I'd been spending a lot of time at our new building doing the renovations.
So for the past month I've been indunated with cats that we are honor-bound to accept and no money has been coming in. I cashed in what little was left of my IRA and got the bills caught up.
The good news is that our volunteers have been coming back in droves and they form conga lines around the shelter singing Ding Dong the Witch is Dead. The bad news is that we have 140 cats in a shelter designed for 50 to 60 and are scrounging for everything from building materials to cat food. We're literally stripping local houses slated for demo to get 2 x 4's and pieces of drywall. One more month of double rent will sink us and August is fast approaching.
We also FINALLY got our 501 (c)(3) so hopefully we'll get more donations.
Anyway, if anybody noticed I haven't been around in awhile, this would be why. Get rich people to send us large tax-deductable donations!!!!! Or chocolate. The world looks better when viewed through chocolate.
