Clio was never a convincing mole. She was the supposed ex-lover of Mordechai who wanted to bring him down.

[Private]-GSF:Clio: "Are you still organizing against the Marlus?"
[Private]-GSF:Clio: "I have personal issues with Mordechai specifically."
[Private]-GSF:Clio: "Let's just say we have a relationship... he's made promises he hasn't kept and I'm just sick of it."
[Private]-GSF:Clio: "Our relationship was of a personal nature."
[Private]-GSF:Clio: "He trusts me and talks to me about things that the rest of the clan would not be happy with him for discussing with an outsider."

But she constantly betrayed herself:

[Private]-GSF:Clio: "Mordechai is smart, a lot smarter than he's playing this. Do not under estimate him."

And her info was never any good:

GS Lady Lolleia (2:08:46 PM):My goal for today is to find out where Mordechai hunts but i'm really not sure he'd tell me.
GS Lady Lolleia (2:08:55 PM):All he's said is that he has a super secret spot.

A damp mist seems to seep from the very walls of this vast chamber casting the walls in an eerie green pallor. A large round stone stands upright in the center of the room, rotating like a coin that has been stood on edge and spun. The opening at the center of the stone is pitch black and odd runes are engraved around the edge. A low steady hum emanates from the stone, and the sound soothes your tired nerves. You also see a puddle of water.
Also here: Lord Mordechai who is lying down
Obvious exits: out
You swing a curvy glass penis at Mordechai!

... and hit for 76 points of damage!
Deep slash to Mordechai's neck severs an artery!
Mordechai chokes to death on his own blood.

The shimmering aura fades from around Mordechai.
Mordechai seems to lose some focus as his eyes narrow and shift momentarily to one side.
Mordechai begins to breathe less deeply.
Mordechai appears less secure.
The dim aura fades from around Mordechai.
Mordechai appears less confident and fearless.
The powerful look leaves Mordechai.
Mordechai's movements no longer appear to be influenced by a divine power as the spiritual force fades from around his arms.
Mordechai appears less battle-ready as a soft glow dissipates from around his form.
A crimson mist bleeds out from Mordechai's exposed skin.
The deep blue glow leaves Mordechai.
The dully illuminated mantle protecting Mordechai begins to falter, then completely fades away.
The light blue glow leaves Mordechai.
Mordechai loses the flickering unbridled energy surrounding him.
The faint blue glow fades from around Mordechai's hands.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
Roundtime changed to 1 second.

We have a large offensive planned for next Friday, where we're bringing in all our people from across Elanthia, and this would make a great capstone to it.

The offensive was a blatant lie. There was nothing planned. One of their insiders was upset, though, and was feeding us intel, so we waited for word of it to show up.

[Shattered]-GSF:Madam: "You still up Necen?"
[Shattered]-GSF:Madam: "We need to talk"

[Private]-GSF:Madam: "[Marlu]-GSF:Mordechai: “Necen and Co. are going to try and kill us all Friday, have all their goons from various towns coming in to do it"”

The Marlus completely bought the ruse:

GS Lady Lolleia: Everything in place?
gs4nuadjha: All set. You on your way? As soon as you arrive, latch the door.
GS Lady Lolleia: leaving now
gs4nuadjha: Great. :) This is going to be a real shocker.

I'm awfully confused. This seems like a whole shitload of effort for absolutely no payoff. It's like one of those big retarded machines that has thousands of parts and takes days to set up, but at the end it just drops a cube of ice into some asshat's glass of water.

It's the Big Offensive because that's what Mordechai named it. We got a good laugh out of it, and it stuck.

As usual, the Marlus are missing the point. Chess with a checkers crowd indeed. We got a week of laughs playing two moles at once, followed by a hilarious evening of watching the Marlu moron brigade run all over TSC getting set up to come ambush us, while we went about our business. As Buzzofthoughts suggested, the most effort we put in was cutting a few lines from conversations, which took all of 10 minutes. The spies came to us, the timing was perfect, and we ran with it. Who plays Clio anyway? Someone needs to give her some lessons in how to spy.

And Monotonous, you do just a *tiny* bit too much defending of your characters on the boards. Any time anyone mentions one of them, you're jumping right in here to be "reasonable" and "neutral". Do you have any argument at all other than, "ZOMG!1! Youse guys say ANYONE who doesn't hate them is MARLU!!1!one!1!!"

This whole thing was incredibly entertaining. What does the first post actually point out? It shows that we took the Marlu attempt at influencing the Vanguard and ambushing us, turned it around, and made them dance to our song. It didn't even take that much effort. This post isn't about anything so momentary and trivial as killing them. This post summarizes a battle of wits in which they were tremendously outclassed. Even better, it reveals that they have more holes in their organization than they thought, and that they can't trust each other.

You're operating under the flawed assumption that Me insulting someone is Me defending someone else. I simply call things as I see them. I've insulted people on both sides fairly regularly. The problem is that your side thinks anyone who doesn't absolutely agree with everything you say is an enemy.

Apparently that also makes me the player of any character I don't happen to be insulting at the time.

Personally, I'd have found a more subtle way to prove the double-agency and not let on that you know. The reason people are shrugging at this '1337 ubar ch3ss move!' is because knowledge is power. By exposing them as a mole without using it to your advantage until your position was over played or your chance otherwise blown, you wasted valuable information.

For example the russan spys recently discovered. If you watch them and limit their gathered knowledge, you can play a great cat-and-mouse game with them where you can feed conflicting information back to the source for some confusion. It's not until you find something you want more or have no more games to play do you expose them.

Well, the Clio outing was more pest control than anything. We just got tired of "it" being around. There was an internal split on outing Madam, it went to a vote and those of us who did not want to put that in the post lost.

Ok. We've tried to put a brave face on this, but the fact of the matter is - I think it's over.

We have spent the better part of the week working on a plan to deal with the vanguard Friday Offensive. I know myself and at least 3 other marlu's personally took days off of work to talk strategy. When the payoff came and Calidus uttered those words over marlu chat; "You feel things are calm enough that the law will notice criminal actions" - shivers went down our collective spines as we realized - WE HAD BEEN HAD.

After that - things were a daze. We barely said a word. Some of us went back to Wehnimer, I believe a few headed to Teras Isle, and I tried to afk script for a bit but ultimately couldn't handle it, so I hugged someone to death in the bank and spent the night in jail. At least there I felt I had some control back.

I woke up this morning and cried. I just... I wanted so much more for yesterday but there was nothing. Just... nothing. So I set a script to answer the jailers questions, and left to Lake Crystal. I spent today staring at the lake - wondering how to find some joy in all this again. Sadly - I just didn't see it happening, and so I tossed my laptop in the lake. I believe I am done with Gemstone.

I have spoken with several others, and I can confirm I am by no means the only one who is leaving. You ruined everything in the most malicious way, and this game is no longer fun. I hope you are all happy with yourselves.

Goodbye Marlu. Goodbye gemstone.

Im just not sure what to say at this point guys.

The fact that people think this is any sort of 'victory' for team Vanguard tells a lot more about the social dynamics of the forums, and the quality of the brainpower of its members, than anything Ive seen.

This 'Psy-Ops' or 'clever Jazz Hands scheme' was pointless. Sure you made us get a puzzled look on our face and shrug, but then we went back to killing you all.

So lets review: Vanguard killed not one of us last night. We killed one of their guys 3 times, and various others we neither know nor care are related to them. Vanguard made us take 10 minutes to buff, 10 minutes to run there and run back. lol 'made you look?'

Let me give you a small lesson in Intelligence/Counter Intelligence operations.

First rule: Dont let the enemy know you have a spy.
Second rule: If you find a spy in your midst, dont out him. Keep him around. This means that the enemy wont try to send more spies, and you can control what information the spy has access to.

But no, continue to pat yourselves on the back for this AWESOME VICTORY guys! :P

So true, when I was in Israel I learned that the jews of today are really upset about this decision cause of all the annoying holocaust side-effects. It sucks cause like... they're seriously regretful about the decision. At least they got Israel though.

Your. Plan. Didn't. Work. Once we learned what the plan actually was, we were awe-struck with it's stupidity. If you use the madam/table plan for comparison, I think you'd see that I am pretty honest in my reactions. When madam got table access, I didn't get butthurt or whine, I didn't say your plan sucked or failed, or anything of the sort. I merely asked how the fuck we allowed that to happen, then I tried to do damage control and keep moral up. As usual, you are welcome to believe what you want, and then masturbate to the thought, but if part of that "offensive" plan in Icemule was to distract us while you fucked up our table, or took out our alts, or ANYTHING, then it would have been a success. More importantly, even if it wasn't a success, it would have at least been a decent plan with some balls; not this "lolol we got them to go to icemule! MIND FUCK!!!"

Deathravin's making us look like genius gods here, which is flattering, but things do look a bit clearer in hindsight than they were going forward. The Icemule post had two goals: 1) to demonstrate how easily we could spin their mole attempt back on them and make them run around, and 2) to frame Madam. We weren't sure that they'd take the bait on Madam, but he was the easiest target and their most dangerous member. They didn't entirely swallow the bait, but the frame-up did result in an increased distrust of Madam, which heightened the conflicts between them and eventually resulted in Madam getting kicked out/splitting off.

Madam's departure led directly to the table raid, which led to a distrust of Katze. We played on that distrust by posting the Marlu scripts to the forums but conspicuously removing Katze's name to frame him as the poster. With the distrust from the table raid, that got Katze kicked out and we recruited him as well (though he never did much). That pulled 3 players and their alts away from Marlu in a day, and with the loss of the boxes at the table and the psychological kick from that raid, led directly to the Marlu split and the truce.

i think the truce, which was the greatest accomplishment for the Vanguard, was because we were all wtfpwning them. they realized they needed to come up with SOMETHING in order to calm things down so they could level

I'm briefly interrupting my masturbation to mention that the main part of the reason for the whole thread-posting bit was implicating Madam as our spy. Also, publicly showing how we turned it around on you might inhibit future Marlu recruiting. At the time, you were still doing fairly well as a clan. Our anti-Marlu plans were more than just "kill them until they get sick of it," as people are seeing now.

When you guys posted you made the mistake of leaving Mooch in your post and son of a bitch, I couldn't get no one to listen.

So bottom line great work. I am not gonna act like I new the whole plan. I did really feel that mooch was the mole though...I know when I been had and I am mn enough to give you your props.

Actually we did hear you. However I had someone I trust implicitely vouch for mooch. I had suspected mooch since after we booted leland, though I wasn't particularly vocal about it, as reindeer games bore the shit out of me.

I still have to give credit to you guys for making this last couple months fun. Jaeden and Mord in the beginning bitchfests. And these guys who were most vocal and PvP entertaining.
Madmountain,Mord, Cthulu,Calidus, Necen and the Vanguards you guys got some massive balls and it was fun to watch and sometimes even creepy.
Hope we can all put something fun together that can actually do something positive and fun for this server so everyone don't quit.

Any Ideas?

The whole icemule plan... was MEANT to look pathetic. It was pathetic because he needed an excuse to gloat and further implicate Madam. He needed to make sure you knew that he had a mole and that he had flipped the mole back on you.

Also, that's a little uncalled-for. As Necen said, we did have more to the plan than just trooping them up to IMT, but it wasn't quite as awesome as all that, and Calidus isn't an idiot.
