Hi, I've been trying out archery for a while, and i seem to be having some issues with it at level 21. I've read the archery guide on Krakii in and out, and I'm trained in all the necessary skills (2x ranged, 2x ambush, 3x perception, 3x staking&hiding, 2.5x dodge). Here are the things I'm noticing:

1) My aims seem completely unreliable at this point. 60+% of the time I can't even hit a leg if I'm aiming for it. Maybe this is normal for this level archer?
2) I can kill the level 15 large ogres on the VO trail, but anything above that (that I know of) takes 5 or more shots to kill because my aim is unreliable. The ogres take me 20-30 minutes to fry on because of their relative scarcity and low level.
3) Because everything takes so long to kill, I'll inevitably get knocked out of hiding during one of my many shots thus giving my target a chance to hit me back. Unless I hunt the large ogres I spoke of earlier, I haven't ever made it to fried because I either die or have to run back for healing before the hunt is over.

I'm using a ruic longbow with e-bladed arrows. My str bonus is capped at +25 and my Ranged AS is 216.

Am I just doing something horribly wrong that I'm missing? Is there a creature available to hunt that I just somehow passed over while searching the creature list on Krakii?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you. :)

Par for the course as a lower level archer, no matter the training.

If all this is just normal for a low level archer, does anyone have any suggestions higher level than the level 15 large ogres that I might be able to handle?

Around what level with the above training plan will aiming really start to be effective?

Thanks!

Best place i found at that age was the jungle on Teras.

Use some fire flaring arrows (eblade) and go to town. Its a sweet little area, and the bounties are easy without escorts.

I might also advise lesser stone gargogyles (and then stone gargoyles as you get a little older), they're like giant roltons.

(2x ranged, 2x ambush, 3x perception, 3x staking&hiding, 2.5x dodge)

Really? That much perception? Ausek has only ever been 2x ranged, 2x ambush, 2x perception, and 2x dodge. I never run into problems unless something voids me.

At the lower levels this is spot on. Ausek couldn't reliably aim until his early late 20s and early 30s. This is just how it works, but when you reach the breaking point you'll see the results really quickly.

2) I can kill the level 15 large ogres on the VO trail, but anything above that (that I know of) takes 5 or more shots to kill because my aim is unreliable. The ogres take me 20-30 minutes to fry on because of their relative scarcity and low level.

If you have shadow mastery I would suggest hunting krolvins. At 20 I was able to hunt the warfarers(25) effectively as long as I kept smastery up. Infact, if you want it, I have a villswood composite bow I can give you, SW sighted. It may help you out...and it's just sitting in my locker. Otherwise you should be able to take the mercenaries(17) and warriors(19) just outside.

Are you in a society? I would suggest GOS for you, from personal experience. I was CoL for 3 years and very reluctant to switch, but ever since I have I've gained a LOT of resource in place of losing 5-15 AS. Sigil of Determination lets you hide, stalk, and fire with rank two wounds on your arms, legs, and head, and if you have the stamina/mana to spare you can always get +10 AS and Heavy Crit weighting with Major Bane...though the weighting only works against hated enemies (trolls, orcs, giants mainly.)

I'm using a ruic longbow with e-bladed arrows. My str bonus is capped at +25 and my Ranged AS is 216.

And for your speed, you can get a wizard to give you strength to lessen your RT a little more, and put points into the CM Surge of Strength.

Good advice already given but I don't get why you're playing an elf when you, apparently, don't pick boxes.

Unless you like dressing up pretty and "rp'ing" being an elf and all.

You're doing everything right. Just be patient. You really could drop that perception down to 2x. 3x doesn't do much for you for the cost.

you could just not train in it for a few levels, until it balances out, instead of having to migrate, etc.
