View Full Version : Profound or Lighthearted?

There are many intelligent, articulate posters here and, while trolling for the past few months, I have noticed that certain posters seldom post in anything but topics that are political or profound in nature. Other posters seldom post in anything but the lighthearted topics.
I am asking why because my curiousity was piqued.

The best thing about PC is the variety. I very much enjoy the serious political or religious debates (although I admit I rarely post in them) .. but it's also fun to get to know the other posters and share humor.. not to mention the Gemstone related stuff. ;) PC!
I try to stick to the silly/lighthearted/comical threads as much as I can.
The political/religious/serious threads contain nothing but opinions, and we all know opinions are like assholes.. etc. etc.

I'm one of those guys that has an opinion on everything. If someone says something stupid, you can bet I'll chime in. Conversely, I'll be that person that says something retarded every now and then, and that's when the humor threads break out...
It really was nothing like this like two or three months ago. I think around the beginning of the New Year, a lot of these political threads started popping up. I have no idea where from. I blame Tijay.

I wouldn't say I feel most comfortable posting about serious topics. Comfort really has nothing to do with it. I just find inane banter to not be at all amusing. Now if something is actually funny, that's different.
So are request for more of Edaarin's non-hetersexual pics. Which I have yet to see any of, by the way. Le sigh.

I usually stay out of the political/religious/heavy topics.... unless it was started by Edine and spouting off non-truth republican garbage. Then I'll be happy to step in and point out the mistakes.

I am not particular at all. I read everything and will happily blather away on almost any topic. :D

I read all threads but I generally avoid posting a lot in the political threads for the simple reason that I don't feel like having my opinions jumped all over. Most of the political threads end up becoming flame fests, thats not my idea of fun so I stick to the fun/gs related ones.
Also, as I'm not American its hard for me to comment on US politics when I have little interest in it and little knowledge of it. :)

The serious/giggly stuff doesn't sway me, but when a thread starts getting downright mean, I don't like reading it anymore. That tends to happen more in the serious threads, I think, because it's hard to get angry/mean over someone's favorite cooking recipe. "Two cups of sugar?!? I'll steal your dog!!"

Tell you what, Chica, why don't we start commenting on British politics just for you?
So ... how about them Lib Dems? Any chance they'll gain seats on the Tories next time out? Got an opinion on who'd win a cage match, Red Ken or Howard?

I tend to stick to the light-hearted threads or game mechanics stuff.
If I wanted to be all serious I'd go out and actually do something important and not post about it at all.

hehehe, I wasn't complaining about you all discussing US politics, you are mostly American, I'm the odd one out. I just don't feel I have the knowledge to comment on it really, without making myself look stupid. ;)
As for the Lib Dems, I expect them to officially become the 'opposition' after the next election. Tories are a dying breed. If there is no Socialist Workers Party canditate in my constituency (there won't be, boooh) I will vote Lib Dem for sure.
Red Ken vs Howard??? Red Ken all the way!

I'm happy with the variety of discussion available on the PC, although I sure do wish there were more math threads.

I like everything. The thread seriousness level depends on my mood.

I am going to try to attach something but if it doesnt work I will try again.
Here you go:
I like most of the issues discussed here, and if something seems interesting Ill usually give my 2 cents. I like knowing how people think in general.

That is:
Log[e^1] + 1 = 1 + 1 = 2;
Okay, enough of me hijacking this thread.
Damn, good going. Except Latrinsorm beat you in a U2U. Heh.

Depends on my mood, and who is participating in th e thread.
I like serious threads, but if it's a th read where there's the beating of dead equines going on, you can count me out. Generally I just chime in and try to make light of situations with humor. I also don't pay much attention to current events, and I try not to stress myself out about things that aren't very important in my life right now (like politics, heavy debating, et cetera). I just don't need to stress out about that stuff.

I don't play anymore, so I tend to stay away from the game mechanics threads.
I will say that my ranger was the best I've ever seen. I'd use 608 to hide, so I had all of one rank of hiding. I was fully doubled in CM, and hit like a ton of bricks. I don't even think that training path would be viable anymore given the current changes.
I like all the threads.
The only thing that really bothers me is when people can't admit they are wrong.

I read just about all of them, except in the mornings and right after school. Then I just scroll down and read the ones with interesting titles (or ones I started, heh).
