The pic you posted has a lot of resemblance to my zombie picture. Hence the holy hell. As you already know since you are the one that brought it up. :p She even has a lot of similarities to the non-zombie version of that pic, but we really don't look alike, as I was going to show by posting the non-zombie version. But then I had visions of my pic being non-flatteringly photoshopped the next time I pissed someone off on the boards, so I changed my mind and took it off.

Here's what I don't understand... I haven't seen the Marlu crew griefing innocents at all for the past few weeks now. They haven't asked me for money for quite some time (not that I ever paid anyways), and for whatever reason they completely leave me alone now. Did they have a change of heart? Why are the Vanguard and them still warring if neither of them are killing innocents? Is this just a grudge match now?

Because Vanguard was NEVER about stopping us from killing innocents. It was Necen and Pandin's feelings were hurt that they couldnt dictate the rules of the server.

As I recall, you first attacked me because I (rightfully) called you an idiot on the boards, and as for dictating rules, I LOL at your hypocrisy. You're upset that we won't let you do it, Senor Extortionfail. But this is a common argument, and trying to talk to a brick wall is just as futile the twelfth time, so do enjoy that version of events.
As to that log that was posted, that's not even a third of the deaths you're trying to claim - futilely, I might add.
Here's the new policy. I'm just going to post logs of us killing you, and you can talk to yourselves over it and say whatever you like.
To my count, we currently have 216 kills on the Marlu clan, though a couple of you do count for two points. Call it 200 even. I'd estimate that you've killed the Vanguard at most 40 times, total.

The overall goal of the Vanguard was to have the Marlu Clan be disbanded. Despite what Fudge/Mordechai says it appears to be that they've been disrupted to a point where collection comes when they're absolutely sure it's safe to collect. At least that's what it looks like.
Wouldn't know, really. All just speculation on my behalf. Could be wrong, probably am. Who knows.

Actually TD is based on player skill divided by a third of the player's awesomeness quotient multiplied by the total number of PKs that player has gotten in the past 24 hours. I'll let it slide though, Methais, it's a common mistake.
Fatsix, their TD's suck because they haven't been able to PK so much because they were totally pwned while AFK earlier today and couldn't log in while at work for 9 hours! As posted in one of the other Shattered threads, they were only killed AFK because their scripts aren't as good (couldn't slam in time) and spike thorn was used, which is the most pussy of moves! It's like going to a waterpark and not ... expecting. to get... wet.

I've noticed these death crits occurring (more?) frequently lately from bone shatter (that is what you're using, right?). Is this a result of training up Mental Lore, Manipulation which "increases the chance for an instant kill" or is the "instant kill" mechanic something entirely different (perhaps similar to Cleric smite/bane instant kills)?

It could be a small handful of things from age level of the player casting it versus yours, the warding level, the random crit chance, MMC training and Manip training.
It also could be that people casting it on you before were not channeling the spell to make it hit harder.

Half of his kills were against people half his level (or even less).
As for Cthulu and Calidus, both are squares, and I believe both were mostly or entirely unbuffed.

It could be a small handful of things from age level of the player casting it versus yours, the warding level, the random crit chance, MMC training and Manip training.
It also could be that people casting it on you before were not channeling the spell to make it hit harder.
Yeah, I'm aware of all those factors. I suppose a more precise way to phrase my question would be: Does the "increased chance for instant kill" from training in Manipulation mean more normal death crits such as those, or is it a different mechanic for the "instant kills" like it is with Smite/Bane?
Smite/Bane has a 5% chance to outright kill something, but I don't believe it works on player characters.
I wasn't sure if the instant kill mechanic of bone shatter just meant increased chance for a death crit, or if it was a different instant kill mechanic.

Half of his kills were against people half his level (or even less).
As for Cthulu and Calidus, both are squares, and I believe both were mostly or entirely unbuffed.
You, Cthulu, Malevolence, and Mord weren't half my level or less. No idea on Portu. The other two noobs though came running to your defense, so they needed to die regardless.

Yeah, the instant kill is a different message and honestly I don't see it that often.
The power of the attack is enhanced upon a successful cast on a target with ranks of Mental Mana Control (http://www.play.net/gs4/info/skills.asp#manashare). Training in Mental Lore, Manipulation (http://www.play.net/gs4/info/skills.asp#mentallore) provides for a chance to completely abolish the target's bone structure, resulting in instant death. The damage is also dependent on stance and having an open hand.

The low TDs are either low levels or squares. this is why anyone who rolled a square in shattered is going to have a bad time. Implosion won the fights and everything else lost.

MMC might be doing it. Open handed channeling might be doing it. There is a TD pushdown on low level targets too.

Mental Lore, Manipulation does not affect the chance of death from a critical for Bone Shatter (1106) or Wither (1115). It only increases the chance of an instant kill (long, unique message with no damage).

Not to totally go off topic, but since you mention ambushing, does training in perception reduce the pushdown and does anyone know what the difference in say 50 perception vs 100 does for you if anything?

Supposedly it does, but I don't know the exact mechanic or training required.
That is one of many reasons that I personally believe Rangers will be the champions of Shattered.
If using ranged weapons, then is probably fully trained in perception, which will reduce incoming ambush pushdown.
Self-spirit buffs for DS and TD.
Stealth, including camouflage.
High weapon AS combined with ambushing, DS pushdown, camo AS boost, self-spirit-strike.
Combat manuever offense and defense.
Maneuver spells, possibly the best in the game in Spike Thorn, not to mention extra maneuver defense from mobility.
Etc.
It seems like they've got all the areas covered. I supposed the only downside could be the jack-of-all-trades, master of none syndrome... but I doubt it. Besides, there's always spike thorn! ;)

Push down has something to do with attacker level or ambush skill vs. the victims perception skill. I think something like 1x perception at the same level negates the ambush ds pushdown. I'm not sure if level has anything to do with it might just be 1/2 ambush skill vs percetion. I remember getting bad ds pushdown against ithzir scouts until i got to 91 perception. And i dont think katze had any ds pushdown against me, which is why i got the blue crystal and madness.

I'm not making excuses, I'm stating facts. There is nothing here to complain about because it was my own fault. I was missing about 60 AS from forgetting to prepare and activate certain scripts. It's a fact that the likelihood of him dying from that attack would have increased with that extra AS. Do I care? Not really. Again, it was my own fault.
I know it's hard to resist calling everyone a whiner, but stating facts != making excuses, whining, crying, etc.
When Clank said he died cause he had 50k on him I didn't say "WAH WAH WAH," I chuckled and said, "ouch, that sucks. :P"

Mord had his spear worked on to be crit weighted and enchanted. He's also got a set of flaring full plate for when he can wear it.

SEE!! Everyone INVOLVED had fun, from both sides! There is fun to be had by all that want to participate! You can have your pvp fun without griefing people that do not want to be involved.
At one time Mordechai had a "kill em once" thing going on. And, as much as I argued with him, I can see now that it is a billion times better than what you are doing now. Killing them once gave you and them the opportunity to test the waters and see if they wanted to be involved. Remember arguing with me that that was the reason you killed everyone once Mordechai? Go back to doing that. Kill people once. If they want to be involved, they can be. If not they can flip you off and call you a bad name and go on about their business.
The only people I've killed repeatedly are the ones who have done so to myself or my friends.

At this point, you clearly have enough people participating that you can stop griefing people who just want to be left alone. Go back to the kill people once thing, seriously. That way you can keep recruiting new blood (to your side or the other, I don't suppose it matters which), and people have the chance to tell you to fuck off if they choose, or to join in and try to kill you or pay you or whatever. Don't let his bullshit fool you. They'll all run around with their pvp scripts running (intentionally or not) and if you kill them in retaliation, they decide that you are the one causing problems for fighting back and then they like to mess with you.
So, I guess if you're the type to just lay down and stick your ass in the air for them, you'll be fine. If not, we'll, you're the bad guy.
Actually, I didn't have any afk pvp scripts running until very recently, when the griefing on me went overboard. I forgot it was even running until someone alerted me last night that my script attacked them, and I have since removed it entirely.

i agree with this whole-heartedly. but it can be hard. people like Nostradamus for example helped me a lot in the beginning. now he's associated with Marlu. I killed him when he came to rescue Madmountan. but then i apologized to him and I do intend to leave him alone even if he kills me in revenge.
on one hand, i feel like people should be allowed to take a middle ground where they're cool with everyone.
on the other hand, if you help a jackass then you're kind of a jackass too.

No. Those kills you just saw on me (all three of them) were nearly the only random times that I was killed besides Jaeden wandering into my hunting areas. Most other times were when I purposely injected myself into a situation knowing full well that I could die.
Like I said in my long-winded post, I give maybe 20% of the credit of my decision to stop killing other people to Vanguard (and at least 15% of that percent belongs to Tillmen alone). Most of it came from private conversations with close friends and people on this board who kept on me from day one. My character wasn't suffering due to anyone's actions in game. When I decided to stop killing people I had 2 recent deaths and zero sting.
I privately shared with Necen one of the biggest factors in my decision. Besides finally understanding what people were telling me, I realized that Gemstone was unhealthily dominating my thoughts every day. I quit playing in Prime and sold all my characters, partly because I needed to focus on my real life career and family. I never thought I would get mixed back up in Gemstone.
I came to Shattered so that I could AFK script and NOT have to pay attention to Gemstone all day, but then I got mixed up in the Marlu-Vanguard thing and accidentally started spending quadruple the amount of time I had intended to paying attention to the game. Whereas I had planned to only check on my script maybe three times a day (before work, after work, before bed), I ended up checking on it like 50 times a day, both due to my natural inclinations to obsess over things (and yes, because I was constantly wondering whether someone in Vanguard or Jaeden had killed me).
If I had to break down the percentage of the reasons why I chose to stop killing people and generally stop being a dickhead, the breakdown would be something like this:
50% Philosophical and Ethical discussions with fellow players.
30% Concern for my own health/sanity from playing so much.
20% Worrying about the conduct of Vanguard with regard to said playtime.
That said, it's probably more of a Venn Diagram with some overlap. I'm sure my mind was more open to having the discussions *because* a group of players was standing up against the conduct. I definitely spent more time playing the game at lease partially *because* of said players.
Interesting. Perhaps I just talked myself into thinking you really did have a point after all. Bravo to me. It's not for the reasons you thought though, which is why I responded to the post. For me in particular it wasn't because of any *actual* rape, but more because of being in apprehension of future rape that helped open my mind to the points others had been trying to make to me.
I still say thank you to all those who stayed on my ass despite my stubborn insistence to disregard your viewpoint.

To be fair I figured vanguard was going to stop attacking since the only person Ive killed recently was Fornicator. I killed him again today. But I also figured that was allowed since he was being a horrible person :P
So I havent been running my emergency script as a show of good faith. Hence why Necen was able to get kills on me without my script beseeching out of stun and then proceeding to rape him.
But I mean, if you guys ARENT going to stop attacking...why would I stop doing what Im doing? :P

It'll remain on, killing random passerbys (though really, no one just randomly passerbys where I hunt) so I can hunt in relative safety until I hear Im no longer being browbeaten into doing what they want. They've gotten what they wanted imho. Ive toned down. Im NOT going to agree to any terms where Im required to submit a name for approval before I kill though.
/shrug They've not offered many any terms besides 'stop or else' and Im not accepting such terms

2. Jaeden's actions do not represent the stance of the Vanguard in this instance and do fall under the "personal grudge" clause. However, I'll chat with him when I get home today to see what the circumstances here were. From what I can see so far, it looks like you were intentionally provoking him with attacks on his religion.

I have no issue with Spiffy, and the situation stands. The deal will be amended to remove open griefing priveledges for Vanguard with no reprisals from marlu allowed. If it is not, The deal is off.

To wit, mordechai is the only one who did not agree to the truce, for the precise reason I am dealing with. It left an open clause for them to greif us, and us to do nothing in return. He held out. I chose to give it a try and stop killing people.
So far, none of us - not even me after the Jaeden incidents - have broken our end of the agreement. Vanguard has in the form of Jaeden killing me twice while I was afk.

Ok. I'll talk to Jaeden when I get home. If he did kill you twice, then we will work out some recompense for one of those in the form of deed money or potion costs if you decayed, or something similar. You're free to respond to the other one, but as long as things are at a 1-1 ratio, I don't think it's useful for me to get involved.

Im not agreeing to a truce where it is "I get to kill you because of a personal grudge, but you don't get to kill me". And self defense is silliness. First shot wins. and If I have to wait for them to attack me, I'll usually lose. Anyone would.
