What are these: firecat trap/Felcour duelling gauntlets?

A couple of items from Foehn's promise '05 that I'm curious about, what exactly do they do, who owns them, etc.

a pair of Felcour duelling gauntlets studded with sharp steel spikes – show: Designed to cover both arm and hand, each gauntlet is circled by a jeweled cuff. The righthand gauntlet shows a dragon’s tear diamond at its center, indicating an intention to duel for honor. The lefthand gauntlet shows a dark red-green bloodstone at its center, indicating a duel to first blood.

Basically the trap does what it says. You lay it down and you can trap and kill a fire cat. There's at least one more that kills rats that Shallowgrave ended up with. I think that chick that started with an S that was Shallowgrave's nemesis had one too.

Gauntlets are pretty much explained there. There's nothing else special about them as far as I know.

When they came out people were saying they had flares for voln-fu and such so I thought they were better than that.
