>go gate
[Wehnimer's, Outside Gate]
Citizens, merchants and assorted dregs of society jostle against you before the great wooden gates of Wehnimer's Landing. Harried guards and militiamen try to keep the chaos to a minimum, but it is hard to keep track of those entering, let alone leaving, this large trading post. A dirt path encircling the wooden palisade of the town leads east and southwest. Nailed prominently to the wooden wall beside the gate is a sign you really should read. You also see a horned owl, a rolton pelt, a massive wheeled tower and a Wayside Inn.
Also here: Kosstan, Warmongar, the body of Warbruloi who is lying down, Sycrid, Great Lord Rorge, Lord Leokar
Obvious paths: north, east, southwest, northwest
>
Kosstan just went southwest.
>
Zuzuo just came through the wooden gates.
>
Rorge gestures while calling upon the lesser spirits for aid...
>
Zuzuo just went southwest.
>
Warmongar smiles and gives you 1000000 silver which you quickly pocket.
>
Great Lord Smoothnatty just came through the wooden gates.
>
[Roll result: 171 Penalties: -10]
You charge towards Warmongar and attempt to headbutt him!
You slam your head into Warmongar!
Warmongar's skull helm absorbs part of the blow!
... 15 points of damage!
You broke Warmongar's nose!
He is stunned!
Roundtime: 5 sec.

That's hilarious. I had someone do the smile verb while giving me a bunch of silvers once. However I am so gullible that I was halfway to the bank to deposit my imaginary silvers before I realized. (Okay okay, ALL the way to the bank, at the counter actually, if you want to get all technical)

Eh, I posted this in another thread, but whatever.

Another good use of headbutt:
>cman head ryuu[Roll result: 166 Penalties: -10]
You charge towards Ryuusei and attempt to headbutt her!
You slam your head into Ryuusei!
... 20 points of damage!
Skull cracks in several places.
She is stunned!
Roundtime: 5 sec.
>cackleYou cackle!
>You hear the faint thoughts of [OOC]-Ryuusei echo in your mind:
"Her fault she's a dumbass"

Tell that to Jolena. She choked out Tayre on first try to the death. Headbutt does look nice, and take alot less for an insta-kill.

Garrotte is definitely the best manuever in my opinion. Great for roleplaying too.

Well, I agree Garrote is best for RP, but in normal circumstances I'd take headbutt anyday. It took Jolena about 45 seconds to finish me off in chain, maybe 10 against Tayre in leathers. In the hunt, both those times make you dead.

My personal favorite < well maybe I'm biased > is Hamstring.

Since the thresh hold has been lowered to 150, I've seen a significant jump in the usefulness of garrote. I can generally choke something in 3 second RT increments, and managed to choke Eahlstan on the first try.

I also posted a log of it last night (when it was unadjusted and required a 200 end roll), check page two of the About Time thread.

You grin.
>[Roll result: 145]
Falgrin flings a wire around your neck and snaps it taut. Painful!
You are stunned!

You gasp and struggle but the garrote draws tighter painfully.
You are stunned!

S>Falgrin asks, "Ya like dis do ya?"
S>Falgrin asks, "HUH?"

S>You continue to struggle but the garrote draws inexorably tighter.
You feel a fair amount weaker.
You feel a fair amount less hardy.
You are stunned!

You feel yourself growing weaker from lack of air.
You feel significantly weaker.
You feel significantly less hardy.
You are stunned!

Falgrin releases the garrote from your neck. You gasp and draw a sweet breath of air, feeling very lucky to escape.

Only Falgrin was easy on me and let me go before I died. Nice neck bleeder though.

Odd. Thought it was 150, not 145.

Is there any way to break free of the garrotte?

Edited to add - Besides perishing.

145 surely fucked me up.

And I don't think Falgrin has TOO many trains on me.
