So about a month ago, the player of Rusteek told me a command to automatically map rooms into the Psinet database. I cannot for the life of me remember what this was. Can someone help me out?

Basically, for whatever reason, a lot of rooms I go to aren't mapped (such as on Teras). With this verb, whatever it was, it would assign room numbers to these unmapped rooms so I could utilize them.

So I would type: <whatever command it was> <the direction I wanted to go> and it would map it.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I should note that this did not give a room number for the database -- I don't think it even worked when I logged on another character. But it stayed with the character I mapped it on permanently.

It's really a simple command, but the computer I saved it on decided to die on me, and now I cannot recall what it was. It's not one of the verbs listed when you type "atlas" or "atlas manage" or "atlas edit", though.

You could try asking Jamus. He reads these boards. Can't remember his SN off-hand, though.

The command is movemap <command>. It sends the command, and then updates the previous room's entry in atlas with the results. For instance, "movemap e" will map or remap the east exit in your room.

Like anything that modifies the atlas, at logout your changes will be merged into your local copy of atlas- it will not immediately effect any other characters you have logged in.

Bad news: it doesn't work in the current release, due to a bug. I expect the next version to be out in the next couple of days, which revamps a number of atlas features- including that one.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Damn. Thank you, Brian. (This is Tabor, by the way). I haven't had AIM lately, so I need to download that and catch up with you!!

Thank you for taking the time to fix that bug. It's such a wonderful feature! It was driving me to drink since I could not recall what the hell it was.

You could just use Lich, where pretty much everything is already mapped.
