I had to do a double take, I missed the drop it happened so quickly! so I departed and ran back in to find....NOTHING!!!! I killed and examined every n'ecare in there! O well, maybe next time!

Claidhmore weighting will turn rank 1 on robes (wizard wanting min hindrance will not have even soft leather coverage on the neck) into rank 9.

Fulls don't cover the neck. So to the neck it is 40/5 = an extra 8 crit ranks and any crit at all could end up as rank 9, compared to the arms or body where it would "only" be 40/6 = 6 or 7 extra crit ranks.

It wouldn't have been rank 9, but it still could have been pretty nasty.

Subtract the crit padding points from the 40 points of claidhmore weighting and divide by 6 to see how many crit ranks could be added. (VH is 12-14, so taking the mid point gives 27/6 = 4 or 5 extra crit ranks.)

Remember also that crits get randomised, so that rank 9 was an unlucky randomisation roll. A neck hit from a claidhmore with a roll that was just enough to create a rank 1 without weighting would randomise between 3 and 5 on VHCP LBP, while a roll that was just enough to create a rank 1 would randomise between 5 and 9 on unpadded fulls.

(different AvD and DF will mean the actual roll to just activate the claidhmore weighting will be different between the two armors, but if it is just activated, that is what the results will be)

The stone skin reduces damage AFTER the maximum crit rank has been determined and randomized. In this hit the total damage for crit rank determination is 53 ( 13 raw damage + 40 crit weighing). Coincidentally, it is also the same as the total damage before stone skin damage reduction.

Damage Factor: .475 (claidh vs. leather)
Endroll success margin: 28
Raw damage: (28 * .475) = 13.3
Crit damage: 40
Total damage (raw + crit): 53
Stone skin reduction: 8
Actual damage: (53 - 8) = 45

That's a tough run of luck. Adding insult onto injury, the lance was enhancive. So not only did you die from it, you didn't get your special cracker jack prize!
