So, I'm playing a burghal gnome. As a result, weight is a BIG issue.

Using Nilandia's awesome site (http://www.nilandia.com/) I have been able to identify some of the lightest items the standard shops have to offer. If anyone knows of anything else that would help those of us who have to pay a lot of attention to item weight.

VLA Backpack:
[Rogue Guild Shop], various locaitons
a black leather climbing pack, back worn, very large, 4lbs

VLA Cloaks:

[A Dark Building], Sol Haven
- a high-collared flowing crimson cloak, cloak,very large 6lbs

[Tarabelle’s Boutique], Illistim
- a blackworked grey wool cape, cloak, very large, 5lbs

I use a black leather climbing pack, back worn, very large, 4lbs and got it lightened by 2 lbs by Oscuro.

LA hooded cloaks in the Vaalor Adv guild that weigh 1 lb. One room west after you enter.

I doubt you could get it deepened, though, at that weight. Still, nice container.

Is the climbing pack 4lbs figure outdated or is it that they used to be 3lbs and they increased it to 4lbs? I can't remember. Anyway, they increased the weight of all of the light rogue guild containers (totally unbalanced the game, glad they fixed this!). The rogue guild elegant black silk gem pouches used to be less than 2lbs MA, same with the elegant black brocade satchels. Those definitely are my go-to off-the-shelf containers.

Imflass/vultite armor is always priority #1 for me (imflass is 70% base weight and vultite is 80%). Also, if you get imflass armor accessories, you can drop encumbrance that way (you can shave about 1lb per accessory; even if you don't need them its a reasonable strategy). If you're going ranged, get a warrior sheath and split arrows into bundles of 24 for maximum weight reduction.

You can fit 5 of em in the warrior sheaths. It's nice.

This might help, although it's (1) an abandoned draft and (2) Plat: http://gsguide.net/index.php?title=Alter_Fodder

Two questions.
1) Do any of the above items hold 120?
2) VLA = 90-120 pounds right? Or is it based on the # of items it can hold?

That's a separate spot.

You estimate that a nut brown frock can store a large amount with enough space for any number of items.

When it says any number of items, that means that the number of items is not limited. When you see something else, there's a limit on number, despite the weight not being full.

I don't know about the 120 question.
