Gemstone eyes, something new?

Found these hunting the Rift early this morning. Anyone know what they are or if it's something new?

an obsidian eye and a milky quartz eye.

Flashes of nebulous crimson flit across the smooth obsidian of the tiny orb, which is perfectly round and cool to the touch. A slit pupil is raised from the surface of the eye, surrounded by a delicately perforated iris. The eye stares in a mesmerizing fashion, coming to illusory life with the flitting of rainbow sparks upon its surface.

From what I can tell they're just cheap gems but nothing I've ever run across before.

They added more cheap gems drops everywhere, someone on the officals was complaining of the lack.

Now I get brown zircons, petrified modwir/maoral/haon, etc in OTF, yeesh.

I guess they could come in handy if I was helping a novice.

Well, certain functions of the game were requiring these gems. These gems were not available.

I'm not talking about the brown and clear zircons...the catalyst gem was the silver fang, but just look at these eyes. Who has ever seen them? How would it be fair if they were required for anything?

I don't think this was the right solution in how to get them out to people, but it sure beats "Just overhunt the creatures and force the treasure down", which was the original suggestion.

The only downside is not being able to fit as many boxes into a disk. Which is a pretty fucking petty thing to bitch about.
