Well, it's been a few days and no one has brought it up. I'm not going to go through the trouble of posting links, so for those of you who have heard about it, what did you think of the president making light of not being able to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?
Personally, I've read that it is tradition for our Presidents to poke fun at themselves at this particular dinner, but could he possibly have found another topic to joke about? I think so. Our country went to WAR over this issue. American soldiers, among many other people, are dead. I'm a little surprised more people aren't upset about this.

Yeah it was stupid, but to be honest Bush is reaping the benefits of low expectations at this point.
Was anyone really shocked that he would say something so stupid?

I'm sure it wasn't in horrible taste. The context or delivery of it was probably fine, or it definitely would've made news. I didn't even hear about it. I don't think Bush is an idiot, I just think he acts human instead of being a robot.

How can you be so sure of something that you don't know about?
It did make the news... maybe just not the news that you watch.

It took place during the dinner for the White House correspondent's dinner. Traditionally, the president does a bit of comedy before a real comedian does his show. In a picture of himself looking behind a couch, he joked, "Those weapons of mass destruction have to be somewhere."
The war was supposed to be a war of necessity. It was this imminent threat that obligated us to sidestep the UN, piss off every ally we've ever had, and go to war that second.
It was all bullshit.
Lots of people have died.
And then he makes a joke about it?
I understand you admire Bush's quality to speak freely at times, but you don't think that it was out of line?

I thought it was out of line too. There's plenty of things to joke about, because it was a friendly dinner. Especially as far as what he's done in office. You don't have to choose the one that included tons of people dying.
It made the new here. But personally lately I've just been to out of it to follow the news to the degree where I could really comment on it so I just scanned it and moved on.

I don't watch the news, I'd rather watch commercials.
