View Full Version : Should Simu contract the world?

Should Shattered succeed on any level it will mean a much smaller population in both Prime And Shattered than has been experienced since AOL went flat rate. The world is a much larger place than it was back then and there will be a lot of virtually empty towns as a result (Solhaven had all of 2 people in it for a fair period today). As a result, getting services from healing to picking will become much more difficult in a lot of places. The only two possibilties I can think of is to marry the two worlds and try to find a happy medium, or to eliminate the least used areas in an effort to concentrate the population a bit more (rather important if you are going to have any interaction going on). Hopefully Simu would actually try consulting with the player base on which to eliminate (but I won't hold my breath).

Anyone got a better option or idea?

Never happen. Too many area hold outs to do that. I mean too many people who are so fiercely dedicated to a town that they would scream bloody murder if any were to be taken away.

There's like 35 scripting junkies who play The Fallen. Most of them are also scripting Prime too. Presumably, Shattered will eventually end up the same and not effect GS Prime much.

So....you want to find a way to combine an OOC world with a roleplaying one? There is no possible way that would be acceptable.

Worst idea ever.

Shattered's level of interest will level off quickly and it will become a mix of like 20% "LOL U CAN'T DO THAT IN GEMSTONE!", 70% rabid scripters, and 10% seeking uninhibited roleplay.

I doubt the game's one true instance, Prime, will see much of an impact population wise.

If it pays for itself I consider it a perfectly fine idea.

People still play Modis Operandi.

That is all I have to contribute to the "zomg they are going to fracture the player base and there won't be barbies left to cyborz with" argument.

I remember Tolwynn's player (of all people) being freaked out by some dude in Modus wearing a skirt and carrying a dildo when he tried it. I'm pretty sure they cyber everywhere there's text on the Internet (just like there's porn of anything if you look hard enough). I bet somebody's cybering in the comments section of CNN as I type.

I tried MO a looooooong time ago. If things haven't changed, yeah, they cyber.

I know Im old and barely understand this cyber thing but how did it become part of the conversation? And what does MO have to do with it? And to the chap who considered using GS as an English teaching tool, read Durfin's babble and consider the idea again.

The way I see it, most of us in prime are there for the roll-playing options that it presents to us. Shattered, being a place of virtually no limitations will get old after everyone tries all the things that they could not do in Prime. It is a neat concept, but the limitations is part of what makes Prime so wonderful. In my oppinion, I believe that merging the two would relust only in a loss of MANY players.
