Post your "Top 10" favorite things about shattered / or clips of what happened already..
My #1 fav: The fact that no items exist or older players to help people along..

Captainpicard with his phaser, phaser holster, uniform and U.S.S. Enterprise is goddamn epic.
The whole collection of insanely bad names all cropping up at once.
1. I'm not playing..
2. Hopefully it won't be a total novelty and some people will actually quit prime and sell some good shit that otherwise would never move.
3. I expect more very humorous logs to come

Yeah... Maybe once some sort of economy is established and higher end items show up in Shattered and people decide they want some cash to buy shit there, and use their prime gear to get said cash..

I think i saw 80 people at most last night. The thing with these types of servers is they get a lot at the start. Everyone wants to try out a brand new pvp server. But the population ALWAYS dies down. I can't see how fun it can be playing a pvp gemstone that has such a HUGE level range and with such few people..
That being said, I think one major flaw they had was splitting up the spawning area on a server that is such low population. I was pissed to find out i was forced to spawn in EN. There was maybe 3 other people in that area whereas everyone else who was having fun (including the GMs) were in the landing. This may have contributed to me quitting so early because my play time is limited as it is and I didn't want to spend 30+ minutes just to get to the area I want to play.
I really don't think they will pull in as many old players as they think. Maybe because charging an extra $5 to try and get old players to return isn't such a good idea.

Tried that 4 times. I don't know if elves are forced to start in EN or not since i've never made a pure elf before, but thats where it placed me everytime. Oh well I probably don't play enough anyways to stay competitive with levels in shattered :P

Racials play a large role in where you start. Halflings in Icemule, Elves in Vaalor, Humans in the Landing, etc.

Weren't you liquidating anyway though? Even before Shattered? Or was that someone else.
Either way, I guess I didn't count on the few people that don't care about the few extra bucks will go that route to stick around GS.

I think he was liquidating in anticipation of Shattered. No sense in waiting for everyone to do it all at once.
I sympathise with not playing Shattered because of the characters with leet levelling scripts or uber amounts of time to play, leaving you fucked at a low level.
Although it's not the reason I am not playing.

Yes definitely. They'll still have a clear overall advantage in the end though.
To be fair I think you'd be missing the point of shattered if you didn't script hunt to cap and then kick the living shit out of everyone in a single player or team invasion.

Ehh I have a Plat account as does Jay and a few others, So it's not like it costs me anymore a month.
Mostly I wanted to see all the hub-bub and have that feel of everyone being pretty much on par from the start.
It had me laughing this morning and afternoon while I was in today, the crap the GM's are pulling and doing to mess with the scripters. All the goofball alters that never get allowed. So far it's just funny I can see about half of the people quiting by the end of the month though.

It sounds a lot like the test servers that they had when they switched to GS4, with all the goofy alterations, etc. Most of the logs seem pretty stupid to me. I think if I rolled up a new character called "Penisface", I would be hailed as a comedic genius in Shattered.

Honestly, Shattered made a lot of people happy. In my book, that's a plus. I don't think it will draw away any hardcore roleplayers. It WILL shrink the prime pop, but it is mostly drawing people who are just sort of in the background, either because they are scripters, or they don't like constantly trying to hunt down interaction. In Shattered, they will be able to socialize freely, and hang out with their friends on their own terms. I think that's pretty neat.
If I were amongst the Shattered community, I would DEFINITELY push for portals.

Thats one of the main reasons I am liking shattered.
My top ten:
1. The ability to have a Fresh Start and explore a Brave New World
2. The ability to script things whilst I sleep that I dont wanna sit there and stare at the screen for hours to do (Im lookin at you, Forging)
3. The ability to roleplay exactly how I feel my character should, without worrying about REPORT or WARN INTERACTION or whatever. I can just DO it and not worry about the out of game consequences of my actions.
4. The ability to establish new 'cred from scratch and to become involved in the community. Because my time was so...sparse and spastic in Prime (and when I played Platinum) I made only a few real friends I RPed with (they are gone now). So, hopefully, I will meet like minded RPers here. We'll see :)
5. The ability to just 'go wild'. I havent started any real RPing yet because the first couple weeks is going to be a whoooole lotta Letting off of Steam. So I am just having fun with weird and crazy shit.
6. Someone annoying you? Deal with it. Permanently. With a lance to their face.
7. Since this will be a lower pop server, more chance for neat things like Alters/actual merchant stuff/etc. Now, this all depends on if the GM's, after having fun, are willing to actually do some cool shit for us. I think there will be at least one that will.
8. Any name I want? You got it.
9. Killing fictional characters. Hermoine is going to die.
10. I think this is important enough to list again: Fresh Start.
Once again, I do plan on doing some serious RPing with my serious character. I have a fun character (Mohammed) for when I wanna dick around.

For now, anyway.... :P
Exactly.. I've seen that as a lot people's reason for wanting to play..
In a few months, there will be MA scripting crews in their 50's at least, and if treasure mechanics stay the same, all the higher end folks will be getting great loot since their hunting areas will be very underhunted.
The wealth/power gap is going to expand very quickly.
edit: I do see the appeal of having a fresh start, and getting the chance to be one of those on the top tier... I just don't think I could compete and would end up in the same boat I'm in now, except with less money.

Still, there's 20 years of wealth spread out in GS Prime. It's going to take a long time for anyone to catch up to that in Shat.

That might happen, sure.
But what happens in prime is this:
Nehor sits on Town Square (or North Market when he's in Solhaven) having a nonchalant discussion on faith with a couple bards and a wizard. Wizard gets upset because I mock his faith. He leaves.
All fine so far.
A minute later, UBER LVL 100 comes in and wastes me. "I HERD U WERE TALKIN BOUT FIATH BAD! I KILL U FOR IT IN CHARACTER CAUSE IM RELIGUS!!! HARRRRRR
In your example, I can ignore the interactions I dont wanna deal with (or kill him even just cause he annoys me). In my example, im dead. Hard to ignore dead.

This. Clawfucker is probably going to be 2x your level cause he scripting while you're busy act ::'ing and he's going to make you look silly for even trying.
Don't get me wrong--RP'ing in a brand new instance of gemstone sounds fucking fantastic but somehow I'm doubting that this is the one that's going to be great for that. I could be wrong though--maybe the RP'ers could just take over Teras or RR and have high enough level chars to enforce the obedience of all the various cunts and lobsters.

How long before Clawfucker and the rest get bored? I'd like to think that at some point acting like a retard is going to get old. People are "going nuts" now because of the novelty of the new, rules free instance. Eventually these gimmick characters are going to become so much background noise and they'll fade away as they stop receiving the attention that their parents obviously didn't give them enough of as children.
Then again it's quickly become obvious that the maturity level on staff these days has fallen to an all time low. With Solomon leading the way I'm not surprised.

On the subject of merchants doing ridiculous shit in Shattered, I was just wondering ...
Has it occurred to anyone to hit up a GM for like 40 points of weighting on a dagger or are we so accustomed to the no-weighting mentality that it didn't even cross anyone's mind to ask?
I don't see balance being of any particular concern over there ...

They merchant but it's nothing like what you'd find in Prime or Plat- there's really no rhyme or reason to who and how they pick, they may not even tell you they're doing anything and just do it (i.e. they gave Asspounder a title and a feature alteration that he has a tail without telling him). And of course, Godzilla invasions, etc.
