View Full Version : Your entrance music

I'm in the process of cutting songs into 30 second clips for my kickball team, we are planning on playing entrance music for each player when they come up to kick over some portable iPod speakers, and it's sparked some pretty fun discussion about entrance music.

So, what would your entrance song be?
(For those of you unfamiliar, some teams in baseball when a player is walking up to bat they play their theme music).

Mine is going to be, Buck-o-Nine: Irish Drinking Song (It was tough to pass on Rock you like a hurricane)
The team captain has "Real American"
A few of the others some teammates have picked:
GNR - Welcome to the Jungle
Timbaland - Carry Out
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
The Game - How We Do
Europe - Final Countdown

Good ones for things like this include:

Fort Minor - Remember the Name
Eminem - Til I collapse
AC/DC - Thunder
Queen - We Will Rock You
Various Johnny Cash, Public Enemy, Ladies Love Cool James, etc.

I think it's specific on the person....now I gotta figure out what mine would be.

Warren G - Regulate would be pretty funny for some kickball.

I don't know if they still do it, but the Red Sox used to play "Wild Thing" (a la Ricky Vaughn) every time Papelbon (their closer) came out to pitch. He even had the Vaughn hair for a while.

How can anyone have 1 theme song? Depends on the place and time for me. With that statement here are the songs I often get in my head in my extremely varied weekly places and times.

"Sun is Shining" or "Three Little Birds" - Bob Marley

"Seven Deadly Sins" - Flogging Molly

"Mein Teil" - Rammstein

"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - Wizard of Oz

"Machine" - Static X

It scares me that you can name an Elton John song, doesn't surprise me, just scares me.

Oh shit Silly Face I got it: Do the Family Guy where Stewie and Bryan are radio DJs and Stewie presses the button and it plays Denzel Washington in Philadelphia. Queue that up at least once a game randomly on different people.

This was on my list of possibilities ... but after the first game my teammates insisted that I had to go w/ something drinking related (Barenaked's Alcohol made the list too)

I've already threatened to play "pretty in pink" for one teammate. I'm liking where you're heads at though. Rickrolling the other team would be pretty good too.

I've got a crappy little iPod doc, I'm thinking it's worth it for me to invest in another solution, anyone have any personal experience w/ a portable battery powered speaker system that's loud and not that expensive?

Geto Boys - Still
Danzig - Mother
Botch - O Fortuna

O Fortuna by Carl Orff would be a better choice. It's way more... epic. In the classic sense, not the modern meme sense.

Mine would be frenetic and cerebral. It'd have classical and early American (Americana, Jazz, Blues) themes with a touch of bombastic cacophony thrown in. High energy. Something that you could both work out to and have on while you sit on your back porch with a scotch and a cigar.

To go with my avatar here, Tank! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6jCJZEFIto&feature=related) fits the bill, in some respects. And it's got the punchiness that a entrance song needs. I'd likely use that.

I love this! It feels like late 90's with a bit of classic guitar thrown in and with a rythm that could belong in a fast comic book movie.

I got a great one for you...that song from Kill Bill, but I'd focus on the riff in the beginning.

The song has a perfect name for kickball, too: Battle Without Honor or Humanity.

Nah. They also played "Bodies" by Drowning Pool for his intro for a while, but he decided it was too violent and held a fan vote to change it. The Dropkicks' "Shipping up to Boston" won, and he memorably jigged to this on the outfield grass in his underwear after the 2007 ALCS. I would recommend this course of action in the kickball league.

After further review, I have realized that I made the best suggestion. You have to remember that a lot of people have seen Kill Bill, so when the other team hears your intro, they will psychosamatically (making up word for clarity) begin to fear that you are a ninja.

The first 30 seconds (or even 32 seconds since you are making the intros and no one will know if you give yourself an extra 2) is perfect.

I've devoted a little more thought to this, and would like to add some more suggestions:

For rockin' instrumental intros:

"Epic" - Faith No More

"Come Out and Play (Keep 'em Separated)" - Offspring

"So Far Away" - Social Distortion

"Bulls on Parade" - RATM

"November Rain" - GNR. Play the ending.

"Brain Stew" - Green Day. Just thinking about recommending a Green Day song for anything other than deletion from existence makes me turn green, but the intro would be pretty bitchin' for a walk-up.

Rockin' Content:

"We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off" - Jermaine Stewart

"Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" - Toby Keith

"Hit Me With Your Best Shot" - Pat Benatar

"Billy, Don't Be a Hero" - I can't decide between the Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods or Paper Lace versions. I'm thinking Bo Donaldson--these could be your uniforms: http://www.discogs.com/image/A-150-510959-1147620035.jpeg

"Little Willy" - The Sweet. Just play the chorus.

"Balls to the Wall" - Accept. Again, the chorus.

"Loser" - Beck

"The Last Game of the Season (A Blind Man in the Bleachers)" - David Geddes

"You Sexy Thing" - Hot Chocolate

This list of songs + YouTube = at least ten or fifteen minutes of solid gold entertainment.
