--- Lich: crosscharcom active.
[crosscharcom: Script only responds if errors are encountered (reduces clutter). No echo? No error]
[crosscharcom: Assuming this script is a client, and the server is functioning properly]
[crosscharcom: fatal error connecting (controller char crash out of the game? firewall settings too strict?): Insecure operation - initialize]

*
* Connection to the game has been lost. You will need to login again to continue playing.

i can get it to connect on 2 other characters, however I get this disconnect problem on my third. Even when I turn my firewall off.

On the other 2 that are connected... i cannot get the:

;send to crosscharc (target_character) (command to perform)

to work. Nothing happens.

Whenever I try to run this it crashes my character, then when I log back in, it does it again unless I'm fast enough to kill the script. :(

Is there another way to communicate across characters?

Does OOC chat or the lich equiv work from one realm to the other? That would be pretty bad ass.

Yes, they both do. They are independent from the game mechanics.

Anyone verify if this works across a LAN on different PCs? I've been reading the code and it looks like it should. I tried it out and it says looks like you typed an ip are you sure and i let it roll and it's only supposed to echo on errors. I don't get any echos and I try sending some commands and nothing seems to happen then after a bit my laptop pops up a windows error saying a program tried to write to memory it wasn't allowed to write to and my whole computer crashes.

I have windows firewall allowed on ruby and I have UAC turned off. My accounts an administrator.

I think I'm going to try writing some simple socket test programs to see if I can duplicate it. Maybe there's some security thing I'm not aware of.
