View Full Version : Good bedding PSA

I refuse to make an appreciation post so consider this a public service announcement.
So Kohl's had this huge clearance sale where they were giving thirty percent off on top of whatever percentage everything else was on sale for. And I snatch up two sheet sets since I am so picky about soft sheets. These were 300 thread count, 100% Egyptian cotton with a sateen finish: one top sheet, one bottom and a pillow case and it came to about $21 per set. They are sooooo soft and comfy.
Another recent purchase was a 100% goose down pillow and I recommend everyone get one of these. No, they aren't cheap at about $50 per. But it's a one time expense and considering how mucht ime you spend on it, it's one of the best things you can buy. It's really helped my neck out.
So the PSA is this... You spend a lot of time in bed, even if you aren't conscious. It's worth spending some money on it. (Having a good mattress too goes without saying).

I'm with you there! Comfort in bed is a must.. I got a great goose down comforter (also at Kohls) for 50% off right after Christmas. I consider it one of the best $100 purchases ever made.

I understand that they were cheap, but 300 thread count is far from luxurious...

I agree with longshot. I've had some bedding that made 300 feel like sandpaper. 300's are good though and I'm glad you got a deal on them. Goose down pillow? No thanks I like my foam pillow that's very firm. I don't like my head sinking.

True. And I wish I could afford the /really/ good stuff. It's not so much the 300 count but the whole combo that makes them nice, I think. They also had some 275 count pima cotton sheets that were all scratchy and rough and I can't see how that small a difference in thread count mattered.
I'm just happy I can throw away the thirty year old sheets now. Not that I hated them. Being so old, they were the softest and most comfortable ones in the linen closet. The only problem was that you could see right through the middle of them they were so worn and thread bare.

Goose down would be great except for the minor fact that I am allergic to it. I slept with a goose down comforter once and woke up with my eyes almost swollen shut and my sinuses clogged up terribly. Hypoallergenic all the way when it comes to bedding for me :(

Don't be such a pansy. Anticor's allergic to women but he still sleeps in the same room as his wife, right?

No, no. I'm saying that I don't have anything on or in me that causes allergies so I'm same to sleep with

I got a down pillow cost me $80 and it sucks, it sqeezes flat and offers no support, plus feathers get out.

But are you soft but still provide good support? Never mind, don't answer that...

Me, too, Mint! I guess I am just a plain ol' peon, not meant for all that luxury. Goose down makes me sneeze! :D
HarmNone does buy high quality linens, though

I honestly don't really notice much difference in bedding. By the time I go to sleep I'm so tired I could probably pass out on a rock and not notice the difference.

Sister! Don't forget wheezing.
Luxury is overrated anyways, at least that is what I tell myself when I have to settle for a polyester filled comforter :(
