So, are any baseball fans pissed about this?
I mean, it's really nice that I'm priviledged enough to watch it live... but do you think it's good for baseball?
For those of you not in the know, the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Devil Rays are playing two regular season games in the Tokyo dome, while every other team remains in spring training in the states.
(And the Yankees got STOMPED by the Hanshin Tigers last night... it was beautiful!)

PS. Yes I'm excited now that basball season has begun.

I'm not excited about baseball... I play it, but I'm not much for watching it or payingn attention.
Hockey though, THAT is something I watch. Then again, all good canadians do.

It's not like I'm going to be at any games anyway (it's a long walk to Shea) so I don't really mind that they open in Japan. Maybe it'll get us closer to uniting the leagues already.

The Yankees are just letting you enjoy a single victory, before they beat the living hell out of your the rest of the season. (Dear God, I hope.)

I love baseball, but I personally would be pissed if the Phils started their season at 5 AM my time..... and if they lost to the Devil Rays in the process, heh.
Or got stomped by the Tigers?

Yeah.. that would suck too, but the Yanks lost to the Devil Rays, that's why I used them as an example.

I think it's stupid the first game was in Tokyo

Baseball is good to see live but sucks on TV.

My love for Longshot just died a little. Just a lil. ::cries::
In other news, my pick for this year...Anaheim. Not sure who's coming out of the NL, it won't matter though.
Unless George has a trick up his sleeve to do something about the Yankees pitching, unfortunately they won't be going too far this year as well. I still think they'll finish better than Boston though so stick it you Red Sox losers! ;p

Who needs tricks when you can score 15 runs a game. Hell I could go pitch for the yanks.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I'm not a huge baseball fan. I do watch the post season, but it just doesn't hold my interest through the incredibly long season.
However, I'd be pissed if I had to wake up at 5:00 in the morning to watch my team play its first game.
Spring training isn't even over yet... it's really strange. They go back to the states to play more exhibition, and then the season starts.
It's really not fair to either team (although I doubt the Devil Rays would mind starting the season 2-0). The fans don't cheer for anyone except Matsui.
Oh, Weedie... the Hanshin Tigers are the equivalent of the Red Sox over here. One championship in their 80 or 90 year history. Perennial losers with diehard fans that suffer through every game. The Yanks had a bunch of scrubs in, and it was only exhibition. In line with any Boston victory, I'm sure it meant a lot to the Tigers, but it meant zero to the Yanks. No love lost I hope:D

I think its great the game was in Japan. If there are fans there it seems like the perfect place, and it was nice to get to see baseball so early. Usually the only thing on that early is sportscenter and infomercials.
PS The yankees suck, boston and baltimore will beat them.
I'd say Toronto has a better chance than Baltimore.
PS. Prediction? Halladay ends up in pinstripes by midseason.

Okay well since you put it that way Longshot, I love you again :)
And Tendarian, you've just given new meaning to the term "pipe dream." ::flees::

That'd be crazy if they got Halladay... I'm so glad they're not in the division the team I like is in or I'd definitely spend too much of my energy hating on them.
