hey guys
just curious.. i have a rogue and i am trained for full redux and swinging (no picking/magic etc)
I'm currently 2x in dodging (I wear full plate.) I think I have 110 armor ranks (purposely untrained for TPs)
my agi/dex are all maxed (elf rogue)
basically the questions are: can I reduce armor training some more to free up training points? also, does dodging effect things like cman attacks from bandits, disarms? does it effect things like illoke stone hands?
just curious. transitioning into hunting bowels more and more for tasks and stuff and I want to optimize. (currently I swing OHE with 6 ambush RT)
ill post some training and numbers later. please no usual spam comments like "U SUCK!! FAIL!!" etc because those posts are really fucking gay
thx..

Your lack of addequate armor training will saddle you with penalties to the Standard Maneuver Roll (SMR) and to your RT. SMR doesnt' come into play vs CMANs, but it does for most critter maneuvers. You'd be better off with either lighter armor, or getting rid of something else that you can live without in the short term. When we see the rest of your numbers we'll know where your sticking all the points.
130 ranks of armor use is considered the minimum to be fully trained for full plate, with 140 ranks considered the right number by some.
As for redux, "fully trained" is a bit of a subjective idea. Redux works on a sliding scale, therefore you can never really be fully trained. You can however reach a point where you've personally decided that the returns have diminished enough that you're not going to worry about it anymore.

cool. I guess I have to drop pickpocketting (lol) not like I use it anyway. I have 100 ranks of shield use.. 2x dodge.. 30 ranks of MOC (but I really like the MOC and use it a lot so I REALLY don't want to drop it)
ill post when i get back tonite.
by the way does MOC effect DS or DS when multiple creatures in a room? does it do anything other than mstrike?

Training in MOC will help keep your defense up when you're suffering from FoF.

You are going to get killed by stone fist anyway, being severely undertrained for your armor will get you obliterated. Going to ABP or even MBP isn't going to make a huge difference in your defense.
Drew, how come it sounds like you just started playing this game 3 days ago?

I trained at 1x Shield Use with 2x Dodge (per Gib's spec) and I've never looked back.

Consider that feedback very seriously. Wearing full plate with 30 ranks less than the minimum required is rather ridiculous.
That being said, I'd take one of two and a half routes:
If you want a more evasive build and want to lose less DS due to AP: Take 100 ranks of AU, wear aug chain and train in armored evasion for a total AP of -9 (better than studded leather).
If you want more protection at the expense of dodge DS and evasion: Take 100 ranks of AU, wear aug plate and train in armored evasion for a total AP of -22 or take 90 ranks of AU, wear breastplate and train in armored evasion for a total AP of -17 (better than hauberk).
In your position, I'd go 90 ranks and be in MBP.

I wore Forest Green Brig when I hunted there, and it dramatically reduced the instant death rock fist syndrome. Heavy crit padding is better than any training or stats when it comes to maneuver attacks. Brig isn't all that great if you get hit by one of those mauls, tho.

I would start by shaving shield use down to 1x, and shave a few off here and there if you want to get your armor use up to 130 ranks. You aren't too far away and should be able to do it with minimal difficulty. You could lose 5 ranks of climbing and not have any problems. Do that and cut shield use back to 1x and you'll probably have enough to get your armor use up to 130 ranks.
