Ok, so I've read that armor accessories worn over robes provide no additional protection. What if said accessories were padded against crits or say...fire damage? would they still provide that benefit?

Also, would I need more than 0 ranks in armor use to wear robes and armor accessories?

let me add my ignorance on armor in here... now that I'm dabbling with a square it would probably help... I thought accessories stepped up the armor ASG... like if you had on fulls and threw on a helmet it would add the head protection but also make hindrance go up for casting.

Yeah, so light leathers + helmet + leg guards + arm greaves = double leathers.

but since robes don't have any sub groups how would it step in terms of spell hindrance, maneuver hindrance, etc.

Basically what I'm trying to do is throw some leg greaves with fire resistance on my wizard to help reduce the pwnage from boil earth. Maybe I can just get fire resistant robes? do robes count as "full coverage" even though their considered "no coverage"?

just figured I'd clear up some questions I had before I made my decision.

Robes are AsG 2, so the highest they can be bumped up is AsG 4 (doesn't technically exist). There is never any hindrance for AsG 1-4, you will not need any armor ranks. The paddings and whatnot on accessories will work.

Also I think, light leather + helm = double leather hindrance.
