I'm starting from scratch with the 30 day trial on a ranger.
I've basically done the usual two handed route till I have to change to proper training and don't really have much idea (even after researching) what to go for.
I want him to be a fairly typical archer ranger. I would prefer to really specialise in archery and maybe cast spike every now and again.
I intend to snipe if I can, I'm really a fan of stalk and hide etc.

I have no idea what armour to go for, no real idea about stat placements and I'm also pretty sure I'd wreck the training in some way. :/

Any beginners help would be great, plus I intend to see this character through as far as it'll go. I need something to amuse myself while at work on nights and also, since having a capped character of either pure or square for about 5 years Ive completely missed levelling all over again.

Sorry I digress. Yeah help would be great.
Thanks a lot.

Hey, man. Start here: http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?p=1061341#post1061341. I'll try to answer any other questions, too.

As for armor, I'd shoot for brig to start with (30 ranks). If your ranger starts to get into the 50-70 range, then there's a strong argument for chain. For stats, make sure you have high STR and DEX scores. Other than that, you can put things wherever you like for the most part. CON and AGI are defensive, WIS is the ranger CS stat, INT and WIS are prime stats, and so forth.

Thanks a lot. I'll fire questions off as they come but that has taken care of the preliminaries, dude.
Thanks again!

I was in FGB until early the early seventies and as long as you are hiding/sniping I never had an issue with it. I changed to hcp augmented chain when I changed to open aiming archery. Open aiming is more fun, sniping is safer..But like someone said before you really can't mess up a ranger. If you need a hand just send me an PM or find Sharnath running around in Vaalor.
