Did you get the boxes from the treasure chest inside one of the huts? If you cleared a 500 camp on your own, you should have had a pretty massive amount of boxes. I don't remember the specific breakdowns, but it is 1 box per X creatures killed.

think it's one box per 20 grim. So, that should have been a shit ton of loots..

I had well over 20 boxes but seriously all I received was a polished spoon and a rhimar polearm. It was rather shitty that I put all that time into it and got absolutely nothing to show. Note: there was two of us but I killed probably 80% of the monsters. Ranged + Haste = Win.

That is pretty strange, my warcamp loot has always been pretty sexy. Do the camps even work on hunting pressure? I didn't think they did.

I didn't think they did, I'm going to do another 500 warcamp tonight and I'll post up all the loot. If it's shit its back to some normal hunting.

Heard it said by a couple of people that if you blitz right through a warcamp, regardless of the size, the loot sucks. Seemed to hold up for me. I would clear out a 125 or so warcamp in one or two trips, and come out with diddly squat for treasure. Did this probably... five times? Then did one where it was only 80 or so in the warcamp, did part of it before work, part of it after, treasure was MUCH nicer.

Again, very small sample size, so someone with a lot more experience with them would be able to speak to it, but this is what I was told. By any chance did you plow through that 500 camp in one outing? Or in very short order?

I did it in about two hours, maybe a little under. So that could be suspect, maybe I'll run one and do it in two days and see how that holds up.

Only negative to warcamps and taking time is that alot of the time they will get ganked.

You opened it or you searched it?

Searched it (RT and the whole shabang).

In case this is relevant, I didn't kill everything in the warcamp. Killed till I had several keys then just sat in the room opening the chest, searching, while mobs were messing with me. That's why I finally gave up after 20m.

My best bet is that you didn't kill enough to generate a chest. It's one box per 20 creatures you kill.

As a tip--if you search once and it's empty then it's empty, there's never a need to repeat the search after you come up empty (unless you go out and kill more grim). You'll need to deal the killing blow on at least 20 grim to get a box. I'm almost positive it's exactly 20 grim per box given, and it rounds down, so if you and a friend kill 100 grim but you deal the killing blow on 55 and he does on 45 you'll only get 4 boxes (2 each).

What you did there is a good example of how to not get loot. You need to kill all the creatures in the camp THEN search the chest. If you open the chest while there are still grimswarm alive in the camp, two things will happen. Number one, they'll swarm your ass and beat you down. Number two, it'll absolutely kill the loot.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering. Luckily, when I went in the hut by myself it only had 5 in there and no more came in, and they just happened to be ones that couldn't ward me. I did learn (well) from them...
But I didn't know if having ANY still alive would hurt the loot, and you guys answered that. And it's good to know if nothing turns up on the first search, nothing ever will.

Troll camps don't bother me nearly as much as giant camps. I can't ambush a giants head while he's standing. :(:(:(
