Have a couple of qusestions on the runestaves. I'm starting to use mine during hunts, and if I spell up pretty good before I go out, I can protect myself pretty well with it. Right now I'm using the standard issue, but I am toying with the idea of getting a better one. I can buy an Orase stave at Tykles in the Landing, should I grab that one, or hold out and try to find an Illthorn stave? Also, whenever I try to trip someone with it I wind up hurting myself, what do I need to train in to trip successfully? And what merchants provide enchantments?

I believe tripping comes from polearm use but I'm not sure. Personally if you can hunt fine with what you have do so and save your coin. If you feel the need to upgrade go to a 4x and use it. You shouldn't have any issues using a 4x runestaff and some 4x leathers.

I'd bump armor up before I'd bump the runestaff.

Tripping with a runestaff is a new feature, i can do it but not too well, two handed weapons training aids it, as well as training in as many magical skills that you can.

Didn't wanna clutter up and ad a new post so i will just ask here. the bonus (IE 4x or 5x) runstaves, do they effect offencive stance? because my runestaff is well... far below what i could expect. Before i lost my skill migration i checked every conceivable way to get the most ranks toward my runestaff and a 5x shield is still better. At level 35 I figured i'd see some improvement. I did in a way, I still get 50% gain of offencive bonus when using A shield and the runestaff. I hope this is not a glitch because it works very effectivly. Considering I'm a wizard and at 35 my spells are just at the adaquate mark for defencive measures.

Where does the enchantment level add in? Or does anyone have the exact formula?

Trust Askip he's a wizard. He's not a giantman but that's not his fault.

So the enchanted rune staff adds to the CS?

Oh no.. sorry. That meant when I dropped my shield and brawling I had more training points to put towards spell research which upped my casting strength considerably. But, I paid for it with a lowered DS

What is the + Offensive strength on certain wood types. Is this for when used as a polearm?

Yes. I guess you could use them as weapon, but it would take an odd training path. However, if someone wants to use a staff attack for fun and RP, more power to them.

I do not mind that a staff's enchant bonus is lowered as you stance up, if I get caught in offensive I expect to get nailed.
