Use its browser?

Sure, using the browser works, but the experience is much better with a dedicated app.

Technology marches forward tirelessly.

Have you used the free client side app yet? I do agree that browsing this forum from my Android phone is beyond tedious.

Get an iPhone. It's awesome.

That's pretty neat.

I use Opera Mini my Blackberry, and it works alright. I've asked Kraner once or twice for RSS support (since there's a vBulletin plugin for it) but no response.

The Android browser has auto text scaling that the iPhone browser (at least in OS 3.12 or wherever I left off in January) does not. It makes reading this forum on an Android phone about thirty-seven times easier.

I have no issues browsing websites using my Android.

FYI: Android is like Lich and iPhone is like Psinet. iPhones appeal to the sheep but the customization and power of AOSP is far superior. Apple has always had a very closed view on their products. While there are positives to the approach I feel the negatives outweigh them. http://erictric.com/2010/04/27/android-market-share-surpasses-iphone-os-in-us/

Basically what everyone else said, it's even worse on an iphone. Using a custom app is generally better than using the browser on phones, that's why I prefer my "news" apps to cnn.com.

You mean the iPhone has better data you wish you had and have to beg for in order to push it into your Android?

I dont know about you but I type about 5 wpm on my droid, that just won't cut it for playing GS.

If you can come up with a novel way to control the game with gestures and 1 or two buttons it might be worth it.

I'm sure you can use a BT keyboard.

I'm sure you can use a BT keyboard.

Iphone blows in that regard, and wont allow it without some serious modding. That's a big plus for the Droid if it can.

I would mostly just want it for monitoring scripts, especially with Shattered coming out RSN.

Android has a "remote desktop" program that costs $14.99. Pretty expensive and the only app I've paid more than a buck or two for but it's a great program. You can easily turn on/off scripts using it.

I still use the program for a bunch of other things so I consider the money well spent.

For iPhone users, TeamViewer (http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx) works great...and its free.

I'm still trying to figure out my new netbook (Dell Mini 10), but this thing rocks. Worth the money. Can't fit the damn thing in a pocket though, need to get some bluetooth. And carrying it around might make you look like this kid (IPad bling???):

Thumbs up for TeamViewer. I use it at work and it's awesome. Doesn't require any setup (firewalls, etc). It is, however, a bit slower because it has to ask TeamViewers servers for information.

Bumpity bump. Any chance Kranar could consider this?

Are you using TapaTalk or something else? What kind of phone?

TapaTalk is the shit. If it costs money to update the vBulletin to make it workable I will personally donate to Kranar 6 dollars and that issue of Playboy with the UFC model.

Kranar always says he doesn't want / need donations, but really... if we could push him over the edge for installing the TapaTalk plugin, I'd be down for some donation-money.

That's probably TapaTalk, then. When you go to a TapaTalk-enabled forum when on Android (available for iPhone, too), it notifies you, you install the app, and yay.

I browse another forum on my iphone that uses the taptalk app and it rocks. Way better than using iphone safari to browse the PC.

Anyway we can make this happen Kranar?

My HTC HD2 works great with forums for some reason. Too bad It's not even hooked up. Trying to type out on a mini on-screen keyboard makes me go into a nerd rage mode. And my fingers are normal size. I guess I could google it. but these money leeches need to put a USB port on every smart phone. Then I'd be a happy boy.

Looks like it's free to install Tapatalk support on the forum. If we wanted our own branded app though it would cost $999 for a license per smartphone platform.

So, in light of that, I say we get the free Tapatalk plugin installed, the only downside is it does not support vBulletin 3.6. So we'd need to have the forum owner upgrade the backend first. Tapatalk has a plugin for vBulletin 3.7, 3.8 and 4.x. So, who do we need to pester to get this going.

Also note, once the plugin is installed. Users of iPhones and Android will have to purchase the $2.98 app for the phone. But that app supports about 15000 forums right now, hopefully ours if we get the plugin installed.

Bump...

+1 Tapatalk is a great tool for reading forums from smart phones.

I hope this can be installed. I heard on another forums I frequent, that it was pretty easy to install.

And as already stated, it's free to install it on the forums. It's the users who have to pay for the app.
