View Full Version : Couple Illusion Questions

1. Illusions fit my character, but alchemy really, really doesn't. How much time am I going to have to spend mucking about with alchemy in order to master illusions?

2. Is there a busy sorcerer guild? I never see anyone in the Solhaven one, which makes the learning tasks rather impossible. Or should I just ask on lnet or something?

Thanks.

I think 15 ranks total in alchemy

I know people are working in Mule and TI

15 isn't bad. I was expecting much worse.

Now, shall I go freeze my little gnome butt off in Mule or put up with the Elves? Hmmmm.

Thanks for the info.

I can't speak for Icemule, but there are at least 4-5 of us working on illusions in Illistim, two of which (Virilneus and myself) have guildmaster status and count for double reps.

I usually rest in BriarStone Court, and am always happy to teach/learn.

Coolness. Thanks for the offer.

Guess I'll make my way to elfland.

I saw Murkshev posting for guild meetings for illusion tasks once in awhile. He travels between Illistim and Icemule, as far as I know.

Question for this: Since when did you need 15 ranks in alchemy to complete illusions? 0_o

And you can do like 6 in general, 5 in trinkets, and 5 in potions. So 3 of your ranks are easy.

While working with Aduial in Icemule we found out that with only 10 ranks in general alchemy you can master Illusions. General is the easiest to do fairly simple just need to stock up on the needed herbs to get them all done.
If you stop by Mule go to the Trinket/Charm stand and buy a few cheap jars. If you buy them, I will spend a day gathering all the herbs you need so you can get through the first 5 ranks. Its always great to see others who want to move forward with illusions.

Well I started about two years ago and had to start on alchemy. It might have been a few months before then. After alchemy was released it became a requirement.

Also, I won't be going back and forth to Icemule for awhile. I am staying in Ta'illistim and possibly get a guild night going again. Please speak now, maybe we can arrange a day and time?

People already around Illy that are working on illusions. Isola, Morrn, Polveiss, Queleri, Virilneus, and a few others that I cannot think of at the moment.

I'm in Illistim, though I probably won't be around much for the next couple days. If you see a lost-looking gnome named Llwynog, feel free to laugh at me.

Actually looking forward to doing some guild work for once. Thanks much, folks.

Anytime you see Queleri I'd be more than happy to learn/teach illusions. I'm usually on the dais or actually in the guild (check the workshops as often times I may also be working on alchemy). I'm usually on during the day though, don't make it around much in the evenings.

Murkshev as to a regular meeting I'd do what I could to make anything that works for most people. Right now Monday nights from like 7-9pm CST are pretty good for me. Either way I'll try to make whatever time and evening works for everyone.

Just informationally -

All guilds in GS are set up with "diversification" requirements. The rogue and warrior guilds always had this requirement.

When sorcerers only had illusions, we obviously didn't have anything to diversify into. When alchemy was included as a guild skill, along came the diversification requirements with it and hence the need for alchemy ranks to progress in illusions.

It's the same reason you hit a wall on general and have to do a few ranks of potions/trinkets. And, (more trivia) you can't have more ranks in potions or trinkets than you do in general - at least when I was slogging through it.

As has been pointed out, the number of ranks needed is low and I believe 10 is correct. Five in general, and then five in either of the other should do. From my (somewhat hazy) recollection, the first five ranks of potions and trinkets you don't actually make anything - you just pish around, maybe do a couple list tasks.

It's possible some of this may have changed in the past year or so specific to alchemy, but the diversification requirements have been around since forever, I doubt they changed.

Enjoy. :club:

Unless something has changed, you don't have to do alchemy training in order to move forward in illusion training...The next time you're ready to move up an illusion rank find a Sorcerer that is a Guild Master in illusions and they can permit you to go to the next level in illusion training. I did it several times because I wanted to just concentrate on illusions, but haven't tried in months...

Think they must have fixed this one, because I've gotten the message "so and so must diversify his training before he can be promoted in illusions" when I've tried to promote younger sorcerers (within the last 1-2 months at least).

Any good lich scripts for learning/teaching/speed/audience reps for illusions?

Or SF scripts, as well, but lich would probably be better.
