OK so here goes a try at a bard for something new ....

with these stats:

Normal (Bonus) ... Enhanced (Bonus)
Strength (STR): 76 (28) ... 76 (28)
Constitution (CON): 76 (23) ... 76 (23)
Dexterity (DEX): 83 (11) ... 83 (11)
Agility (AGI): 79 (9) ... 79 (9)
Discipline (DIS): 78 (14) ... 78 (14)
Aura (AUR): 81 (10) ... 81 (10)
Logic (LOG): 93 (16) ... 93 (16)
Intuition (INT): 88 (19) ... 88 (19)
Wisdom (WIS): 85 (17) ... 85 (17)
Influence (INF): 76 (18) ... 76 (18)

Can I persue the pure path ... I enjoy casting more than hitting stuff with weapon.....also a consideration is he is GoS .... and cannot be COL ...

BTW Lvl 42.

Any hints on builds or help would be appreciated .. thanks in advance

Your aura is rather low, which is your CS stat. That said, it's certainly doable.

2x brawling
1x armor
1x shield
1.5x spells
1x Manipulation lore
24 ranks of MMC
enough PF for max HP

That's the core for a pure bard. It's all gravy after that; I recommend enough AS/MIU to get some basic booster spells (101, 102, 103, 202, 303, 503, 507, 905, 712, 1712, 913 - all great spells, and the lower end ones are very easy to find).

I personally never roll with less than 1x Perception unless absolutely necessary.

You do not need Dodging or CM.

If you haven't mastered a 2-handed instrument type yet, get to work on that. Also, collect blue and crystal wands, they are delicious little mana sticks.

Some kind of society DS is very helpful, too. If you're in Voln, things are notably easier because of Fu.

Welcome to the club :) Any other questions?

another stupid question .. master a instrument.. where do I get these from and how do you master it? Thanks in advance.

You said voln is good so should I drop GoS then?

Instrument shops are around town, I know TV and Landing have one, can't remember where else.

You master by just playing repeatedly. Whenever you're not hunting (and sometimes when you are hunting!), you should be playing.

Voln Fu is a non-trivial bonus for a pure bard. It is absolutely not necessary. I haven't tried GoS as a low level pure, so I'm not sure how hard it is, but I'm sure it's quite doable as well.

If you do stick with GoS, though, I'd suggest getting up to at least 1x PF for Sigil of Power.
